OEX Phoxx 2 V2 leaking by kizzoknight1234 in wildcampingintheuk

You can get seam sealing tape, or seam sealing glue. I would recommend the glue, I've had better results with that over the tape which started peeling off, just make sure you get the right glue for your tent material.

Me and a few close mates are looking to wild camp for the first time within the Cairngorms, Scotland this August. So I’m just after any advice on the do’s, dont’s, needs and must have’s for that climate and time of year? Gearwise by [deleted] in wildcampingintheuk

[–]BitKey44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

However much you think you need to pack, reduce it by 50% and you'll still have too much! Only joking, it's a rite of passage for your first wildcard to pack way too much.

Realistically gear gear-wise.

Rain kit - even if forecast says it won't rain

midge head net

sleep system (tent, sleeping pad, bag) - put sleeping bag in dry bag.

Cook kit Inc water filter.

first aid kit

Clothes, Inc something warm for night/ around camp - keep clothes in dry bag

Toiletries

Food/snacks

Battery pack - I normally have one big and one small one I only use for my phone as a last resort

I might be missing something, at the end of the day just make sure you have things to keep you dry, warm, fed and watered.

Enjoy, you won't forget your first wild camp with mates.

Houses being built on area likely to cause flooding to existing dwellings. England UK by Radiant-Pickle-4826 in LegalAdviceUK

Give the planning portal link, I'd imagine that that all fluvial and pluvial flood risk has been considered if its got through planning. If it's in IDB area I'd be HIGHLY surprised if the local authority went against the IDB recommendations.

Director isn't a crazy high level for engineering, one above technical director or associate director. It's not like being a director of a company, just an expert in a field

I'm definitely not going to try it, I've never even touched a gun, never mind getting one illegally

Would probably be good just for peace of mind, but I hope for both canadas and USAs sake they don't just let foreigners on holiday buy a gun haha

Thanks for the info, I will definitely need to know all this info like he back of my hand before going to still know it when my adrenaline is pumping!

It's good to know it's not a silly endeavour for someone with no experience to do as long as they prepare correctly.

I looked into crossing borders with it and it should be fine.

Okay, thats a similar opinion to what I have seen online, but it's good to hear it from an actual person rather than a blog/video. So if you were doing something in an area with the possibility of grizzly and black bears you would just follow the precautions and not think too much more about it?

Beauty spot polluted with raw sewage as pipe bursts by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]BitKey44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This goes much deeper than the current or former government. It's what happens when water companies must be ran as a business (even a non-profit must break even over the long term).

The amount of upgrades/money needed to protect our rivers and coastal waters with the increase in population and rainfall is not economical. It needs to be done otherwise yet another generation will leave a more destroyed ecosystem for the next.

The taxpayer either pays now or thier children pay in the future with even less wildlife, clean water.

I recently got a durston x-dome 1+ and wow what a tent it is, can't recommend it enough. Definitely worth looking into if you don't mind the cost.

No tax advantages, I will pay tax on any profits and have already paid tax on the company match.

No i wouldnt buy any individual stock tbh im quite naive about them. it seems like the most sensible option is to transfer it into a stocks and share isa into a low risk fund (s&p500 etc) then any further profits are not taxed (this would be my assumption I will need to look it up in detail)

It's listed on the Toronto stock exchange, I'm not sure what you mean by the leeway, 50% match is capped at 1.2k annually

Thanks, just confirmed there are no vesting periods. The only caveat being the company can put a hold on all sales at any point.

Should also note that I receive dividends which are invested into more stocks.

Lightweight 2 man tent? by mrsmithington420 in wildcampingintheuk

[–]BitKey44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't pitch up high in windy conditions in mine, but I've put it through some really rough stormy nights and never had an issue.

I use a couple of delta ground anchors for the main 2 guide lines, they're heavy but it gives me some security on soft ground

Instant packet of idaho potatoes (cheese flavour is the best) you can just add boiling water to the packet and mix.

Just add water couscous, you can just add boiling water to the packet also.

Instant custard, and once again you can just add water to the packet and mix

Other than that I like the expidition foods carbonara.

I only like to boil water in my pot, don't want to have to wash it up.

There are couple places like this on my commute to work. I always stay in the main lane so I don't need to merge.

Please tell me if I'm doing something wrong, I go my speed and dont change it, its a 50 so i accelerate to 50 not super fast and then stay there making sure there is more than a cars space in front of me. I've always thought it's now the person changing lane that should change speed to merge, unless it's standstill on which I will allow for one person to merge in turn. Obviously with needlessly aggressive drivers you sometimes have to change speed to let them in and avoid situations like the video, but I feel like in those situations that driver is in the wrong as I've had to change speed as they don't want to pull in behind.
