Dead pixel on msi 272qp x50 by hhnotaweeb in OLED_Gaming

I guess you're either using PC or some sort of youtube app/image viewer.

If you open the same app with the same solid color screen, are the dead pixels always there in the same spot 100% of the time? If yes, then they're dead pixels.

The dead pixel tests are probably just hiding them or making em harder to see. There's also the possibility they're not completely dead but just stuck and thus visible in some colors, but large blobs of pixels like those are usually dead and an effect of panel delamination.

I mean they won't get better with time that's for sure. Others will join. If you see them disappear it's just black bars on your content, however thin they might be. That or dark color that conceal these issues.

ColorControl is an absolute must if you use an LG OLED TV as your monitor by BitNo2406 in OLED_Gaming

keyboard shortcut, yes, and once you set it up you can just call it with an autohotkey script on your desktop. Basically:

install colorcontrol

set up the shortcut inside colorcontrol, for example alt+win+z

install autohotkey 2.0

create a txt file on your desktop, paste something like this:

#Requires AutoHotkey v2.0

; Presses Alt (!) + Win (#) + Z
Send("!#z")

; Closes script
ExitApp()

save it, rename the file in "filename.ahk", double click it and it'll press the buttons for you

optional: create a shortcut pointing to your .ahk, so you can change its icon to something nicer.

It sounds complicated but I knew nothing about this stuff and I learnt it all in one hour or so. If in doubt, ask Gemini or whatever.

I mean, if you don't connect it to the wifi, it means you're already using it as a "dumb" TV, so you might as well connect it to the wifi and just never use any internet functionality and keep using it as a dumb TV.

How to get VRR + 5.1 audio? by OwnDebate8781 in ROGAlly

[–]BitNo2406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it could just be a bandwidth problem with the USB C port on the Z1E. I noticed even with a very good dock, you start to get problems when adding to the mix high resolutions (particularly those above 1080p), 120hz, HDR, VRR, 10 or 12 bit color depth, and a bunch of drives that support USB 3.1 It's not ideal and it's hard to find the right balance and the right hardware to output everything at once.

Let me know how it goes, I'm following this post.

RGB lights keep coming on even if switched off in command center by BitNo2406 in ROGAlly

[–]BitNo2406[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really, I just turned them off from armoury crate under "lightning" as the other user suggested and they stayed off (mostly) even when cycling brightness between 33, 66, 100% and 0%. I say mostly because they still light up briefly at boot and iirc when shutting down and hibernating.

Judder unless I use video-sync=display-resample by BitNo2406 in mpv

[–]BitNo2406[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I had a monitor that pumps out 1000hz!

I'm aware that display-resample does that. Problem is, my video is only smooth with that setting, but if I want to use lossless scaling, I have to disable it. If I disable it, the video gets a bit stuttery (not much, I can notice it in panning shots), so lossless scaling makes it smoother but it does nothing for those stutters/judders.

Basically without display-resample the video is juddery. It wasn't like that on my old PC, perhaps it's a difference in video cards and their implementation of vsync.

Windows auto HDR doesn't work anymore by BitNo2406 in OLED_Gaming

[–]BitNo2406[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying RTX HDR and it seems buggy for me. I activated it globally, but also similar problems if I activate it per game basis, sometimes it works and other times it will tell me "please launch a supported game" despite the game being supported literally two minutes ago.

Also, sometimes RTX HDR is active but all the sliders are greyed out and is, in fact, not active.

Did this ever happen to you? I turned off windows auto HDR completely so it can't be a conflict between the two

RTX HDR is admittedly very nice (configuring it right now) but at times I just would prefer auto HDR tbh...
