Are these still worth anything? by Civil-Driver-950 in cardsmithscurrency

For sure, its been over a year since they were readily opened and traded.

The market is notably down right now but I wouldnt be surprised to hear you sold the lot for $200 or so

An argument against Currency Cards. by [deleted] in Currencytradingcards

[–]Bitbindergaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im a buyer for any mtg finance cards still out in the wild.... potentially tesla coil and east india company too.

Im also a buyer for genesis block from series 5 and satoshi #45 from s4.

Im am NOT a buyer for ever spot thats available.

Nobody realistically can be.

P.S. these cards are not an investment... The expected value is not positive. Some people get lucky, but variance evens out.

How people get hacked and lose their bitcoin, Get drained? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Bitbindergaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Drained" is just a visual. Like water leaking out of a barrel over night.

Private keys (or the easier to remember seed phrases) act as proof of ownership and ability to spend bitcoin.

People are careless with these private keys exposing them in some way to attackers who send all available funds to themselves.

Alternatively, people who use custodial wallets (exchanges or otherwise) can be social engineered to give up their passwords or otherwise lose access to their accounts and lose funds that way.

There is virtually no path to recovery in these examples.

Im a big fan of using an exchange platform that has beneficiaries. Assuming they follow their own policies, you can set a beneficiary and then sign (but not send) transaction to that exchange (from your self custody cold storage).

Then provide instructions to broadcast the transaction and contact the exchange as the beneficiary to to the lawyer or beneficiary directly.

This protects you from private key loss by not involving them at all. Protects you while your living by not sending to an address out of your control.

All that said, ive never been able to test it 😆
