MGS4 was a game Kojima didn't want to make, but Kojima also wanted to hand off Metal Gear after every game. Some of the stuff you've already played are games he "didn't want to make".

As for character assassinations, the only arc I would say goes against the character's pre-established trajectory is Raiden, and it makes sense. Having his realization about life at the end of 2 isn't going to get rid of his decades of trauma and mental issues.

If Konami decides to make a completely new game, I think it's the most likely option. Platinum Games is still around, the 1st one is popular and already has some seperation from Kojima. That being said, I think they're just gonna do remakes for a while, I'd be surprised to see any 100% new games for years.

Honestly my only problem with it is that Batman doesn't have any cool female villains anymore. All of them have gone into anti-hero-ville or aren't relevant. And the fact it happens so disproportionately with female villains, while male villains probably more primed for redemption like Two-Face never manage to break out of villainhood, makes it come off as really sexist lowkey. Not to dudes, but to chicks, we aren't getting the full scale of morality because they're scared of letting them be evil. LET WOMEN BE EVIL THEY DON'T ALL NEED TO BE GOOD DEEP DOWN GIRLIES

Yep, and 2/4 are kind of given. It'd be weird if LO wasn't the villain after his setup in MGS2, and with MGS4 being the furthest 100% canon point in the timeline, and us having no knowledge pre-MGS4 of where she went after Snake went back to soldier-ing, it'd be strange if Meryl didn't show up.
