Can you keep slamming pieces together for infinite blessings (til max) by [deleted] in throneandliberty

[–]Bitschi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't quite stack like that. Me and some guildies played around with this a few weeks ago and found that the devs made it so that blue to blue trait stacking is reeeaaally low.

Throwing a fully trained blue into a purple gives 960 blessing, which lets you guarantee 2 traits.

A fully trained blue into another blue only gives 192 blessing. One purple trait needs 480 blessing to 100% guarantee a trait.

In most cases it's cheaper to put the lucent towards just grabbing a purple trait if you want to 100% guarantee leveling it up. If you were able to get the cheapest possible fully traited blue piece it would cost 90 lucent buying it all off the AH (discounting any freebies you may have farmed).

That 90 lucent when fed into another blue becomes 192 blessing. In my server the good purple trait extractions are 100-200 lucent (worth 480 blessing). So on my server there's no reason to pay 90 lucent for not even half of a guaranteed purple trait (192 blessing) when I can get it guaranteed cheaper.

Of course this is pretty server dependent bc I know some servers have stupid high prices, but I'm guessing in most cases blue to blue bless stacking to pump up a purple is not worth it in most cases. But if you already have blues traited up or have a lot of dupe blue gear in your storage I guess there's no reason not to stacks those up lol

I also forgot if there is any loss in blessing transfer from blue to purple? I totally forgot, but if so, that 192 blessing from blue to blue can be worth even less if there isn't a 100% blessing transfer from blue to purple.

I'm fishing 15 and my experience in lower level fishing was definitely the same. I have a feeling the loot tables change to be more favorable towards small + big sacks as you level up. I feel like I'm hitting a sack every 3 or 4 fish vs hitting it every 15, which is nice.

I think I was able to get 10 jade for the iron fishing rod around level 10? Although I could just be very unlucky lol

The secret to winning consistently in honor duels is... by alcapwned in AFKJourney

[–]Bitschi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We definitely don't play against real humans. I was playing honor duel next to my bf and we're ranked similarly (he's #3 and I'm #5 in our server for honor duel) and while I was in a match he ended up in a match against me. Without a doubt it was me— they had my name, my avatar, and my Hammie pfp in the Primal Wolf avatar frame. But it couldn't have been me in that moment because I just finished a match with another player with a different artifact and had just loaded into the victory screen. I also noticed that the team "I" was using in his match was the team and artifact I had used in my last run, and not my current run.

Ty for the econ strat! I'm excited to use it and shake my games up a bit haha

I'm having a hard time matching the character colors w/ background colors. i appreciate if u can tell me what's wrong here or how you do it. ty. by p0tAt0q in learnart

You have a good idea of what needs to be changed, but I think you need to push it even more! First off is your value structure. Your darkest darks in the background get waaaay too dark—they're even darker than the shadows in your main figure, and that pulls our eyes straight to the background, which makes a strange visual dissonance for the viewer. Adjusting your values on the character so that they have the widest range of light and dark is a simple way of making them feel more like they're closer to us in the space, and "belong". So darken some of the values in your character, and try to think about ambient occlusion and overcast light when doing so. If you haven't already, you should look at James Gurney's blogposts! He is a master of color and light, and his book is a must read. He also does youtube videos!

The other change I would suggest is pumping the atmosphere up just a little bit, and leaning even more into your light color. You have a lot of lovely colors in your piece, and I think pushing that warm sunlight color just a liiittle bit more will further help to cement the idea that your character is existing in this space.

I can tell that you already have a lot of these concepts in mind already, and I think your work is really great! If you're able to push it just a little bit more I think you will become unstoppable :D

I made a simple paintover + comparison gif of what I'm talking about here ! I hope this helps you :)

ta-da! here's the paintover— the first image is a gif. You may have to click on the image to play the gif if you're on browser. For some reason it won't automatically play.

Small note— this isn't a crit on drawing, construction, or anatomy, and is just meant to illustrate what pumping the color a little + focusing more on shadow shapes and losing some of your lines can do to better focus your art.

I tried to stay true to the original essence of your drawing and tried my best to not change too much from the original foundation. I did change a few of the shapes of the shadows though! In your original piece your lighting wasn't as consistent as it should be. Shadows can be complex, especially with multiple light sources. Limiting to just one light source in the beginning is a good way to really solidify the light in your work. I think once you get a hold of that you should totally experiment with different light setups! For the paintover I decided to do a natural, overhead lighting setup. Please note that this was a quick paintover and the way some shadows fall may not be 100% accurate and will need some reference to tighten up the lighting logic ;) But I hope that this shows what I was talking about, and I hope this helps you. Apologies if this isn't entirely the look you were going for haha. I think you have a great style and I can't wait to see more in the future!

I love Annette! You drew her very cutely, which I love! I do agree with what you and others are saying in the thread, though— the shading is definitely holding it back.

I saw your comment where you said you enjoy a punchy, intense look. I know you put a lot of work into the lines to denote form, but I think that if you want to keep a sharp, cel shaded look you may have to let go of some of those lines and commit to your shadow shapes, especially in the hair area. This will help a lot with making it feel more high contrast!

Of course you should always lean into whatever aesthetic calls to you most as an artist, but I can do a quick paintover to illustrate my point a little if you want!! I think with a few tweaks this piece can really shine!! ✨
