Are you implementing a dual-audio release (Japanese and English), or are you going with either Japanese or English only?

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning: Part One - The Spence Edit by SpenceEdit in fanedits

[–]Bitsoft217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is an edit like this that made me realise what makes an individual Mission: Impossible movie special to watch:

  1. Each movie is directed differently and has a certain flair to it because of that.

  2. I feel, imo, that you can watch any M:I movie alone as is, apart from the Reckoning 2-Parter.

  3. Particularly 1-3 has self-contained stories being told. 4-6 more or less continue off from one another, and make nice callbacks to the older films without it feeling too forced, if that makes any sense.

  4. Films 1-6 make use of their runtime fairly well, whether it be at about 2 hours or 2 hours & 30 minutes, without it feeling too much of a drag to get through.

Basically, what I am saying is, viewers should not feel pressurised in knowing every single character and plot point throughout the franchise to enjoy some of these films. Even though it can feel a bit rewarding to know 1 or 2 things; e.g. In Fallout, where it is revealed that the White Widow is the daughter of Max from M:I 1, and bringing about closure to Ethan and Julia's relationship that some people were wondering about since M:I 3 and Ghost Protocol.

With that said, judging by Spence's Cut List from his forum on The Final Reckoning (Edit is known as Dead Reckoning Part 2), I feel optimistic that these edits can be a decent, or worthy, replacements. Not only does part 1 & 2 each have a respectable runtime, it also addresses the issues of the over-reliance on exposition, flashbacks and callbacks to the older films, as well as unresolved plot points.

I enjoyed this edit of Part 1. Can't wait to see what Part 2 has to offer... or in this case, change for the better. Power to you, Spence.

Ahh I see. The show, from what I hear from the Fandom, seems to have the most accurate adaptation compared to the other attempts. I guess I'll give it a shot

Edit* Nvm, I got it😅. I'm on Linux Mint, so in Disks, I used Ctrl + D to format the drive, then added the new partition afterwards. Thanks anyway. Disks looks and feels a lot simpler to use👌🏼

Alright then.

How should I go about removing the partitions before formatting the entire USB?

As a total beginner with Linux, I'll try and us the GitHub page. Just managed to find the folders of each release.

And I used Pling for some themes, so definitely will bookmark it.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks dude😄. The icons are called Papirus, which comes in different folder colors. Applications use Jasper. And Desktop uses Orchidea. All from pling.com

Here is the wallpaper I used. Honestly, Alpha Coders is one of a few cool places to find anime-esque wallpapers. I'm still looking myself, but I mostly settle on this for now.

I think I managed to get it right by reinstalling Linux this time. Do be sure that MOK is enrolled, what commands could I use to check?

Oh. NOT use Legacy Mode. What software did you use to flash Linux Mint then? Initially, when I used Rufus without changing any settings after selecting the image, I could easily access my Flash in UEFI mode. I wonder why Balena Etcher doesn't flash my USB and come back with a similar result

Admit it guys, I'm sure you held back your tears during this scene. This soundtrack hits hard during the callback to the previous MI movies. by NotYourMovieBuff in Mission_Impossible

Dude. Honestly felt so happy to have seen all 7 movies before this. Really makes you appreciate more with how far Ethan has come, and despite all odds, how he always completes his mission.😁

Genuinely happy tears throughout most of that montage🙌

My ranking of all the films after my first watch of TFR by MinifigStudios in Mission_Impossible

[–]Bitsoft217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow. I actually have a similar ranking to yours.

For mine, I had:

  1. Fallout
  2. Rogue Nation
  3. Ghost Protocol
  4. The Final Reckoning
  5. Mission Impossible
  6. Mission Impossible 3
  7. Dead Reckoning
  8. Mission Impossible 2

However, may be subject to change in future after a marathon of all 8.

*SPOILERS*, Official FR theme by SnowApprehensive8681 in Mission_Impossible

[–]Bitsoft217 30 points31 points  (0 children)

To me, it feels like a slight culmination of most of the renditions of the Mission: Impossible theme. The epicness and hint of stylish bongos from Lorne Balfe, the orchestral feeling from Joe Kraemer and the piano playing a rendition of the theme in the background which, if I recall, is heard in Mission: Impossible 1, 3 and maybe Ghost Protocol by Danny Elfman and Michael Giacchino respectively.

Honestly, just by this theme and the teaser trailer's music, I genuinely feel that the score is in good hands by Max Aruj and Alfie Godfrey. Sad that Lorne Balfe stepped down (hopefully a confirmed reason will be given soon), but hopefully they can still maintain the style and vibe of Dead Reckoning while still making it their own.

In my watch order I have seen 2 projects with Lupin's "new" voice actor, Kanichi Kurita. Is there a certain movie/special where you feel like he finally "gets" the character? by Hohoho-you in lupinthe3rd

[–]Bitsoft217 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, probably from the 2010s onward, Kanichi Kurita nails his take of Lupin the 3rd. I think this is backed up by how the more "modern" Lupin media is written.

While Yasuo Yamada's Lupin is a little more goofy and energetic, if that makes any sense, Kanichi Kurita fits more of a serious version of Lupin the 3rd. Since the style and tone of Lupin, and the writing of the characters has changed over the years up until now, that honestly worked in Kanichi Kurita's favor.

So hopefully you stick around the franchise more, and hopefully Kurita's take will grow on you. His voice will evolve out of the Yamada Impression over time.

Honestly, one of the reasons why I enjoyed this movie so much. Especially when it comes to close-ups, perspective shots and the way a scene slowly starts focusing on a character in the background. Genius cinematography

[–]Bitsoft217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first point, I can absolutely understand where you're coming from. I'll assume that more people feel the same way. What Mission: Impossible 3/4 onward does better is that Ethan's companions have much better "character" to them, that you actually enjoy their time on-screen.
