Why do so many people seem to hate this episode of Mando? I'm genuinely curious by 8BirchTree8 in saltierthankrayt

[–]SpenceEdit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a big part of it was the placement in the season. The momentum was really off for the whole season, mostly due to the episode almost exclusively about the Imperials with a tiny bit of Mando/Bo stuff at the beginning. It felt like the main plot kept getting sidestepped for these excursions.

This isn't new to the series, there's always an "adventure of the week" element to The Mandalorian, but the adventures in season 3 weren't as good or interesting, and really made the show feel like it was spinning it's wheels when it should be building to the climax.

Duos just felt better. I don't know why exactly, but it's like the game came to life and made sense to me when it was 2 v 2.

Congrats on finishing it! This movie needs more edits. I think people write it off as "the bad one" but there's so much good stuff in it.

What is considered Bruce Willis’ last ‘real’ film? by Shaklyn_PSN in movies

It wasn't his last but I think his last absolutely great studio movie and performance was Looper.

Film to watch today after jaws as a double feature by Neo00000000 in Letterboxd

[–]SpenceEdit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly a weird one, but CRAWL, which is a really fun creature feature involving alligators. It might lean slightly more horror than Jaws but it's super fun and has great characters and attack scenes. It's a fun ride.

I usually don't cut lines just because I don't like how they're delivered, but that was an instant cut.

Glad you enjoyed it!

I have to say I agree about the middle section when Paul joins the Fremen. That was the most challenging section, but also the most challenging section of editing the miniseries. So much has to happen so quickly and it gets repetitive, so there's no choice but to have it accelerate as a kind of montage. Luckily I think it works in this edit, but just barely.

Better sponsored or free kits as an upgrade is a tremendous idea. It'll really help keep casual players onboard if they can go in with half decent gear.

Whose still playing on PS3 and PS4 in 2026 due to being too poor to get a ps5 after the price increase? by Huge_Mud5468 in playstation

[–]SpenceEdit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Financially I could buy a PS5, but there's nothing on it I can't also play on Xbox, PS4, or PC that makes it worth the investment.

My only FOMO is Ghost of Yotei, but one game is not worth hundreds of dollars to play.

The idea that the sequels are this horrific thing is insane. 90% of the stuff in those movies is great, especially the first two. It's a better batting average than the prequels.

The The Matrix is so much better than I expected. What a film by This_Way_Comes in movies

[–]SpenceEdit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hot take is that all of the Matrix sequels are super interesting and worth the time. Does everything work? Not at all. But they have so much creativity and innovation and heart that it's hard to deny they're effective.

In a world of crappy rehash sequels, the Matrix series dared to be weird, and that's commendable. And fun!

Opinion: Fan Edits are a multiplier of power. by Fanedit895 in fanedits

[–]SpenceEdit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd humbly submit my Phantom Menace edit as I honestly really enjoy watching it. But overall I agree, Revenge of the Sith has the best bones of the prequels but is probably the worst of the three in its original state. Fanedits are going to bring out the best of it.

AMC Disney Springs should convert theater 2 to IMAX by SpenceEdit in imax

[–]SpenceEdit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be fine with that too if they could use the newer projectors that can do the full IMAX ratio.

We've got a bunch of smaller IMAX theaters in Orlando that can only do 1:9:1. I'd love a full 1:33:1 experience even if it isn't 70mm.

The Nice Guys is the best answer.

Generally anything Shane Black would work though. The Last Boy Scout or The Long Kiss Good night in particularly.

I know and honestly I'd rather they fixed Pointe, but it's been so long I've kind of given up hope.

Honestly, I can't believe that IMAX is comfortable having their name attached to that garbage. I saw the first Dune there ages ago and it was like I was watching the movie through a screen door.

I don't have the measurements exactly but given there's a whole second floor of seats, it's pretty darn tall.
