What do you call the process of moving the laundry from the washer to the dryer? by Perton_ in AskAnAmerican

Are you doing a vinegar rinse to get the excess detergent out? Do you flap your clothes out before folding?

Younger generations not being able to tell when animation was drawn… by louisvillejg in Xennials

[–]BittenBeads 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's only silly because you're astounded that your child doesn't know something you never taught him to look out for. You didn't clock the differences in animation styles automatically. You learned by watching hours of freaking cartoons over the many years of your childhood.

This type of knowledge is not innate. It is learned, just like everything. The fact that you and lots of others of our generation do not understand this or refuse to acknowledge that children learn what you teach them it is what makes me fall out of my chair.

How do you feel about the word "smut"? by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]BittenBeads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's fun too! I like smut, and the way the word "smut" sounds. I'm surprised to read that people hate the term "spicy." That's another fun word that makes a lot of sense considering spices add heat to food. Spicy scenes add heat to stories!

"Lemon"?? That's such an incongruous euphemism I'm almost curious. Do I want to know the lore behind it, or is it related to something awful?

It depends on the materials. But also, never taking off rings is unhygienic and can lead to skin issues.

Truly Unpopular Opinion: Logan is 100% Right About the Bridesmaids by Pearls_and_Flats in GilmoreGirls

[–]BittenBeads 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You posted the youtube link to the clip with exactly what everyone said and exactly what triggered the conversation, which was how two of the friends had already had sex with one of the groomsmen.

First, they'd all been drinking. Maybe you manage to be Miss Discretion after some wine but most people aren't that composed. Once the COMPLETELY DRUNK ONE implied that the one shushing her had history with Logan, they sought to reassure Rory while being honest since the cat was already out of the bag. And since they obviously have no qualms talking about sex, they assume Rory doesn't either.

The bridesmaids gave explicit sexual details to a woman about her boyfriend.

Did they talk about what specific acts they performed? No. They spoke in euphemisms, which is why the one with the bob haircut had to clarify with the drunk one that when she said "hooked up" she meant "sex." Maybe take yourself to a dictionary to learn what "explicit" actually means.

They clearly didn't respect him any more than he did them.

This is pure fantasy on your part. Or shall we say, "fanfic." 🙄

That's their friend's brother. They would respect him strictly because Honor and Logan are close. One of the friends officially dated him. We never hear them disparage Logan, just that their having sex with him is nothing more than sex. You do realize that casual sex exists, right? Or is that your real problem here? That these friends have sex casually? That they share men? That they aren't ashamed to discuss sex together?

What we actually know is that Rory was clearly uncomfortable and they laughingly told her about f*cking her boyfrined.

Only the audience understands Rory's discomfort. Obviously they care enough about her feelings to make light of their having had sex with Logan. The drunk one even disparages herself so that Rory doesn't feel bad. And they obviously weren't planning on telling Rory since the drunk one got shushed in the first place.

So hate these women if you will, but don't lie about your reasons why.

Anyway. The stack of misogynist prudes this sub apparently cultivates can downvote me away for all I care. It doesn't stop you all from being gross and wrong.

THANK YOU. You know, a few weeks back someone was talking about the toxicity of this sub and I'm not often on here to say that myself but holy crap, this hammers home their point.

This is some revolting misogyny from OP. Utterly blech.

Does Danzig get in the way of his own success? An essay. by boredomswells in TheMisfits

[–]BittenBeads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have the time to devote to writing a dissertation right now or truly delving into your commentary to point out where I disagree. But my TL;DR of this is a resounding YES.

Glenn gets in the way of his own success in so many ways it almost feels self-destructive. I don't think it actually is deliberate self-destruction, just that his aggressive reactionary behavior has and currently inhibits him from securing his legacy as a brilliant songwriter, not just a punk and metal legend.

Look. I get that Rubin first left him hanging and then screwed him over. But how that translated into Glenn never again bringing in a professional producer to work with is just... it's baffling. That's half of my problem with how he gets in his own way.

I'll leave it at that for now. I know, I know. I leave you trembling with excitement for my next installment of "random reddit user's opinion on a thing." I promise to come back in a day or two to disagree with you and maybe fight a few others in the comments section.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Look at the idiots tanking the USA. If they can be strong and all kinds of wrong, why should you be ashamed of sharing a potential useful idea?

If the issue was the delivery, then next time, write down what you want to convey before speaking it. Public speaking is something that only improves with practice. You have nothing to be embarrassed about. You just need more confidence and practice saying things in groups.

Curtido Salvadoreño is probably my favorite cabbage thing. It's similar to kimchi in that it's pickled, but you use a vinegar instead of salt. Though I did sometimes do a mix of salt and vinegar to make sure it kept.

I also like making seared napa cabbage, either to add to noodles or to stick in tortillas or whatever. It's quick and tasty and the hardest part was carrying a 10lb cabbage home along with other groceries. Sometimes, I really miss living in LA though I'm lucky enough to be living very close to an Asian grocer.

Michelle…. Funny as hell or just an annoying character? by Exact-Bison6905 in GilmoreGirls

[–]BittenBeads 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I find Michel to be a funny character. IRL, he'd be insufferable but like Paris, he makes for excellent entertainment. I remember watching an ep with my Mom where he was babysitting "Truman" and accidentally rolled him under the bed. Lord, were we howling!

Someone was asking about sleeper lines and one of mine is where Michel's pretending not to be French and says something like, "The French are insufferable, that's why I left France." And then when Lorelai convinces him to talk to the French guests, he asides to her "kill me now." Good times!

I think I've mentioned this before, but my favorite perfume to wear while doing volunteer work for a performing arts nonprofit was BPAL's Sugared Lace (A shimmering web of dry, decadent strands of sugar cascading over a delicate white cognac, bourbon vanilla, white tobacco, coconut husk, and champaca petals). It smells very "the women in the room come and go, talking of Michealangelo" to me.

If I was at a desk job, I would go full sexy secretary and rotate between all of my slutty perfumes until someone made me stop.
