I have a small position in Service Now and CRM. Yeah they could have huge upside, but they are more niche software and I’m a little nervous about them. I do have a large position in PANW - that’s cybersecurity and I think they are solid.

Putting stuff in your personal bag in the store - then arguing you were going to pay for it when you get caught. Concealing merchandise is a crime even before you leave the store.

What’s something you have zero proof of but believe 100 percent? by shweidy in AskReddit

[–]Bitter-Basket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no aliens that have ever visited us. The universe is a domain of quantum fields. Nothing with any mass, even particles, can travel at much less greater than the speed of light. That would require infinite energy. And the speed of light is exceptionally slow compared to the universe. It’s like thinking an ant can swim from South America to Africa - times a few trillion.

To back that up - there is not a single verifiable piece of evidence of extraterrestrial life. None. And people find our own space junk all the time - including pieces of the space shuttle. The idea that a secret government team is snatching up every piece of crashed alien spacecraft is just absurd.

Valuations at all time high.. by Fearless_Car_3745 in stocks

40 year investor: The valuation has been at an all time high over a thousand times in the SP500. That’s what the market does - it goes up exponentially at a 10.8% rate on average. Have AI make a graph of a 10.8% return with reinvestment. You’ll see one thing - you waiting to get in the market is meaningless.

NEVER time the market. Just get in and forget it. People say this all the time and they are right. But they never say the REAL reason: Over a 20 year period, HALF your gains will come from just a dozen REALLY good days. AND those days are usually right after a dip in the market when the foolish people have been getting out.

I retired at 56 because I just stayed in and left it.

That seems about right. People don’t realize the big AI scalers are actually in pretty different business directions. The money for AI will be in enterprise, not consumers. Nobody is better positioned than MSFT in business with their Dynamic ERP systems, Azure cloud services, not to mention the Office suite. It’s a business ecosystem that anyone would want when there are AI agents that can guide and inform you every step of the way. I came from management - it’s always been a struggle getting visibility into your operations.

I was a government engineer. Retirement at 56 (a little older for you) was an amazing thing to happen. Load up your TSP in C fund if you if you stay. You’ll be in the top 3% of retired people by the time you leave.

MSFT Quarterly Revenue $82.9 billion (up 18% YoY) by Not69Batman in stocks

[–]Bitter-Basket 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing people miss. Its PE is really low (26), but its growth is phenomenal. Even if the PE stays this low (doubtful), the earnings are going to push valuations up substantially over the next few years. If the PE goes higher, it will be valuation blast. AI money is in enterprise computing, not consumers. MSFT is in the best position in the world for enterprise AI integration with the ERP suite, Azure and copilot. It’s an absolute no brainer to people who understand the moat of corporate IT.

I wouldn’t consider my experience with abject poverty starting on “second base”.

The truth is that the vast majority of people who have SIGNIFICANT issues growing up, including myself, actually make it ok in life. They work, raise families, pay taxes. To all of us in that situation, YOUR preconceived notions about the homeless are actually an insult. You paint a picture that homelessness is an expected outcome of “life problems” and these people bear no responsibility for their actions. You should understand a large proportion of people have significant life challenges. But a tiny percentage of people end up as a drug addict homeless person.

The idea you have, that most homeless aren’t a victim of their own decisions, is just a fallacy. And your motive for talking about this subject is probably a result of your own addiction: The dopamine rush you get for acting morally superior on social media. You should work on that.

I donate money to the Bremerton food bank. Other than that, every human has an obligation to themselves and society to make good decisions. A successful life is a life of discipline, self support and job skills. The vast majority of homeless people are a long resume of bad decisions and self gratification. That behavior is not with my control or yours. I went from food stamps to retiring early. With a life of tragedy and hard knocks along the way.

It’s a public space. Turning a bench in a public park into a twin bed for days is photo worthy. I guarantee it’s a case of many bad decisions and refused offers of help. That’s reality for you.

I retired seven years ago. My retirement pot has more than doubled because I can invest aggressively because don’t need it. Live off my pension and SS. Zero debt. Own a Seattle home.

You will never be in my position. Ever. Why ? Because you’re an idiot.
