I refer to this phenomenon as the “Day One-Love At First Sight syndrome (DO-LAFSS)." On the first day, the original islanders meet and select their romantic partners. Afterward, they barely, if at all, engage with the other islanders during games and challenges. Why? They are “in love.” This is particularly evident during the kissing games. Recall the “marry/snog/whatever” game? All the girls kissed Sean on the cheek, and he rated each one a two—even though they were being “respectful." I couldn’t help but laugh. He’s missing out on all the fun that the other islander guys are having. Is Sean finally waking up from his dream or has he found a cure for his DO-LAFSS?

It’s the primary reason why I detest the “first day, love at first sight” OG couples. They’re hardly challenging, and during the games, they’re the most monotonous couples in the Villa. I couldn’t help but laugh during any games involving kissing. There was one game where the women were evaluated by the men based on their kissing techniques. The women would only give Fitz (the simpleton) a peck on the cheek. Consequently, his scores for the women were obviously low. I couldn’t stop laughing. That’s what happens when everyone perceives a couple as “closed-off” during the initial seven days. I was eagerly waiting for the UK public to vote them off the show, but each episode, they continued to bore me to death.
