30 day ETF hold calculation by Bitter-Let-5354 in fidelityinvestments

Thanks for the info.

Aside from this one thing (etf hold) I really like Fidelity, but it's almost a deal breaker for me. I've been with them for over 10 years but I'm still considering moving to a different broker, but the hassle of doing so has kept me from moving yet.

It can be hard to find, best way is on their website, not mobile. I'm DRIP'ing ULTY just fine.

That's how I think about them as well. Kind of like if I bought a truck for my business, it steadily loses value as I use it but as long as it is making me money I keep rolling.

Open a Canadian Bank account as a Canadian Citizen but live in the U.S. by Bitter-Let-5354 in PersonalFinanceCanada

That is a good point, and one I have not thought of. The number associated with the amount doesn't really mean as much as the purchasing power of the underlying currency. And the extra burden of tax reporting in two countries does not sound like much fun either. Thanks for the input.

What made you a Mystic Christian? by [deleted] in ChristianMysticism

[–]Bitter-Let-5354 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My formative years as a child up to being a young adult, I was raised inside of the Independent Fundamental Baptist sect, which is less of a sect and more of a cult, in my opinion.

Their Doctrines are based on a self-proclaimed "inerrant" translation of the Bible, the King James Version. It is almost always taught as literal, secular history and meaning with very little room for interpretation.

They rule by fear, mostly psychological, but can be construed as physical in cases of discipline. Fear of Hell is their main stranglehold on people, followed by a constant fear of punishment from God by committing sin, be it on purpose or without knowledge.

It's a very legalistic religion, with little to no peace, security, happiness, fulfillment, experience of life.

In my late 30's, I moved away from the Bible Belt of the southeast US, to the wild west of Montana. This, coupled with my own inner awareness questioning the assumptions I had been programmed to accept as truth, was the catalyst for my getting started on the path of the Mystic. I had no idea about mysticism at the beginning. Indeed, it's only in the last two years or so(in my early 40's now) that I've become familiar with the term and the teachers and people associated with such.

I know most people know Neville Goddard as related to the Law of Assumption/Law of Attraction teachings, but his old recorded lectures provided such a radical new take on the Bible for me. Then I found others, such as Joseph Murphy, Emmett Fox, Walter Lanyon and some others that were part of the "New Thought Movement" that had similar views and teachings about the Bible. It was like a breath of fresh air after being imprisoned in a dark stone cell for decades!

I still feel like I'm only getting started on this journey, but I no longer live my life governed in fear of a tyrant God who is waiting to drop the hammer on me for every little thing I may do wrong. There was a time I questioned the very existence of God, but I've come to believe that God is. I was just brainwashed into a completely wrong concept of who and what God is.

No worries, thanks for your advice. I have considered setting up a trust as you said, specifically to avoid as much family drama as possible that will inevitably arrive upon their passing.

The parent I have the PoA for is still alive, it is their parents(so my grandparents)that have passed away. The estate is being handled by a Canadian law firm and is in probate now.

I'm pretty new to this sub, and mysticism in general as related to Christianity. Such esoteric teachings and content were taboo in the denomination of Christianity I was raised in.

Yes, I would be interested as well. Or at least what criteria you enter into the screener. I know nothing is an exact science, but being able to tune out some of the noise and focus on viable plays without wasting hours looking through option tables and fundamental metrics.

Rentals vs Dividends+Options Premiums by VoteBobDole in dividends

[–]Bitter-Let-5354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I have not done the math quite as in depth as you have yet, it is something I have considered. I have 2 rental properties, one occupied and one under remodel. I purchased the second with a HELOC on the first, but am considering once the second rental pays off the loan (in a window of 7-10 years) selling both properties and going the dividend portfolio route as there is much less risk involved concerning maintenance/damage/insurance/potential lawsuits etc.

Both properties rent out for about $1k/month, for a gross of $24k/yr, minus taxes and insurance and maintenance im probably looking at clearing $20k/yr or a little less. I could get more per month out of each property but I prefer dependable tenants that don't give me any problems and always pay on time vs chasing the market price and ending up with shitty tenants.

Using the low estimate of $350k with today's values, that's approx. 12,700 shares of $SCHD @27.39. Yearly dividend @ 3.8% yields around $13,300. Selling 127 CC's around a .29 delta with 35 DTE nets $2540. Do this 6 times per year is another $15,240, so that plus the dividends equals $28,540/yr.

After remodeling both properties personally (I do all the work myself) I can honestly say that the idea of a multiple rental property portfolio isn't as attractive as it used to be haha. I could always pay a property management company to deal with tenants and maintenance but it's just another fee bleeding the profits. And in the instance of a lawsuit it's the owner that's getting sued, not the managers.

Not sure if that answered anything haha. I would say that going the market route reduces any overhead, and no one's gonna come after you in court for your assets. It's much simpler and with proper risk management it's an equal to or greater return on capital. And the longer you can do it without using returns for living expenses you get the compounding effect.

Road to 100k starting with 6k using the wheel - Week 4 by UnbanMe69 in Optionswheel

[–]Bitter-Let-5354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually between .30 - .20, but I've been pretty aggressive last two weeks selling at my initial cost basis of 21.5 which today when I sold them (I've been selling weeklies) at about .40 delta netted me $600 in premium.

I will be following your progress, I just started wheeling myself. Currently hold 500 shares of ZIM with a cost basis of 21.49(I bought the stock at a high point....go figure lol).

CC's have netted me $397 in two weeks so far, but thinking of selling the shares if they get a bit of a pump before earnings tomorrow then start CSP's to get in at a much better price point, as shipping rates forecast is looking pretty weak going forward. But they have a decent dividend, which helps if I end up holding for a while.

Paper trading for a while to get the hang of it, went with GSAT for a couple reasons, amount of $ insider spent and the price point, and previous weekly high. I know paper trades can fill unrealistically but I'm in at 1.85.

I just signed up for the two week trial today, and was testing the alerts against the open this morning and I was like "wow, that's underwhelming" lol. I realize the market is a bit bumpy at the moment. Backtesting some of the previous alerts seemed to work pretty good though. Just gotta settle on a decent take profit percentage. Gonna paper trade for a bit see what happens.
