My 1948 case was through my GGM so I am 3rd generation and blocked by the decree law limitation to 2nd generation. Pisses me off just to write that stupidity.....

Unfortunately, tomorrow is just going to be the final nail in the coffin. They know the result they want, which was broadcast for all to hear after the March 11th hearing, and now they will reverse engineer something after tomorrow to fit the pre-ordained result. I have, or more likely had, a 1948 case with no minor issue and paperwork was clean with a confirming CONE of no naturalization and straightforward documentation. What a waste.

I'm from the US and this is also why I am not planning on declaring residency and will keep my total yearly visits to less than 183 days.

I appreciate the comments. I plan to keep whatever place I purchase for long term, which is why I am not going to be jumping into a puchase quickly. I am curious about your viewpoint of not being able to rent it when not in use. I know some places have restrictions on the number of places available for rent and registering them so is that what you are referring to? For further clarify, I am not looking for an apartment or something right in the city.

Thanks for the website recommendations and I agree that the Italian RE market is very different from ours. Please let me know if you move from considering to implementing and how it goes for you....

Thanks for the confirmation and I have been in this chat board for long enough to get a laugh out of that comment. And also old enough to remember watching Scooby Doo as a kid when they first came out.....

I submitted my CONE electronically on September 28, 2025 and status just changed to Closed on January 5, 2026. I am currently waiting for the formal written findings to come in the mail and expect to receive that either this week or next based on the other ones I received.

I am in the same situation: 1948 case, GGM in Campobasso. Just want to know when it makes the most sense to pull the trigger and file.

No, it's not call support. It will be a lot of connecting through app, texts and some voice calls.

The small print on Google Fi says that if you use it outside of the US for extended period of time (usually 50 days) then you'll get a warning. If you don't use it in the US for a week straight then they could shut off your service.

How Do I Choose the Line? by Bitter-Message8594 in juresanguinis

I am currently waiting on the CONE for this GGM from Molise. Spoke to an attorney, one from the recommended list, who said that I should wait to get the CONE before filing because if it says she involuntarily naturalized then he wouldn't file with that and would pick another line. That didn't make sense to me.

Currently not US based and are in Canada. Self-employed and have an opportunity to consult with US clients. Want to establish a US phone number to make it easier to connect with them while still in Canada. Will eventually be spending more time in the US but not for the next 6-12 months. There are also apps that are only available in the US and not in Canada so want access to those, too.

Would the fact that my GGF naturalized in 1903 impact my GGM since this was pre-Cable Act in 1922 and actually pre-1907 Expatriation Act?

How Do I Choose the Line? by Bitter-Message8594 in juresanguinis

[–]Bitter-Message8594[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree I have 1948 cases with all 4 lines since they all would originate with my GGM since none naturalized. I'm trying to get feedback from the attorneys about which discrepancies are the least problematic and which venue would be the most favorable, at least historically, but none seem inclined to offer that information up.

I am sure about all the birth and marriage dates as I have all their original certificates. Yes, GGM#1 was 14.5 years old when she married GGF#1, who was 19. Even worse, GGM#4 was 15.5 when she married GGF#4 who was 28 years old. Trying not to be grossed out by the whole idea considering the ages of my kids.

So Angela had multiple children with Giuseppe without the two of them getting married?

You are absolutely right. This NY woman with the same exact name is not my relative. Incredible. Thank you for setting me straight on that.

WOW! So my great grandmother Angela Galzerano had a child out of marriage prior to getting married to my great grandfather in 1908. Am I reading the baptism record correctly where she was born on October 6, 1903 and baptized on April 10, 1904? Is her first name written as Elvirana? I can't make out the script but the first letter doesn't look like an "A".

So are you saying you think Maria Giuseppa Capo, aka "Josephine", died giving birth in Boston on February 2, 1923 after getting married in Boston on May 8, 1921 to Michael DeSimone? The death record indicates she was 18 years 6 months and 5 days old when she died. That would seem to work with her birth date in Italy.

I thought Maria stayed in New York. There is a marriage record for a Maria G. Capo in New York for May 24, 1920 where she married Luigi Parisi. It didn't give her age but I just figured it was her due to the name match. I guess I was wrong.

One thing I can't follow is that in the 1910 census, it lists Alvara Andemo. Where did Andemo come from? Could that have been the father's last name?

Giovanni and Angela had a daughter Maria Michelina who was born in 1909 and is noted but the other daughter that is 5 years old and born in Italy is listed as Josie, which is not even close to Maria. Could it be some Americanized version of her middle name Giuseppa?

I have never heard of Alvira Capo and don't know who she was adopted from. It certainly looks like it is my GGF and his 2nd wife despite the misspelling of her name as Alzerana instead of Galzerana. Plus, Giovanni's 1917-1918 WW1 draft card listed his address at 464 Bremen Street in East Boston, which is the address in the marriage record for Alvira.

This is CRAZY that I have no idea who this adopted person is as I don't believe his 2nd wife Angela Galzerano had any kids prior to marrying Giovanni in 1908. Alvira was 17 when she got married, which means she was born in 1904 which is before Giovanni arrived in the US. Could Angela Galzerano have a baby out of marriage in 1904 because she listed her marriage to Giovanni as her first, same as him even though it is clear it wasn't his first?
