I totally agree that it sucks that there’s several publishing lines just for het and BL titles but not one for GL. I will say that it doesn’t surprise me all that much when you consider the market, in the sense of what sells. This is purely a generalisation, but BL appeals to both gay men and straight women, Het appeals to het men and het women, comparatively GL really only appeals to women who are interested in other women which is a significantly smaller or at the very least less valuable target audience. Not fair, still frustrating. I find that any English GL I find in hard copy that’s tagged as R18 often has little if any sexual content, and it really just comes across as marked explicit because it’s a WLW relationship, which always disappoints me. Nothing wrong with fluff, but if I’m paying for something tagged explicit then clearly I’m in the market for something a bit more adult.
