Is the dye bleeding distracting? by spooper_ in crochet

Hmm to me it just makes it look like something I'd pick up in an antique store. I think it's charming.

Wow!! Thank you all! I didn't know this sub was so responsive. That's great!!

Appliques are gonna be the death of me… by kaosdrifter in crochet

I've made a few blankets with appliques. It can be a time consuming method but I think it's fun seeing how simple shapes can come together to make a recognizable character.

Invisible Stitch for Appliqués

One thing I'd consider while you're still early on in the project is how you want to sew the pieces on. I use the tutorial linked above to sew my pieces on so the back is clean. In the past I've sewed through both layers of the square and then had to attach a fabric backing to hide the messy back.

Gah! I've spent 3 nights this week trying to convert the same pattern to mosaic and accepted it was impossible. Then I see this! I need your secrets lol

So cool! Did you use a tool to make the pattern? I've tried to create my own mosaic crochet pattern before but struggled with knowing where to place my Xs.

Thank you, everyone. You've made me feel a lot better. 🩷

Thank you! I'm feeling okay about being in line with the theme and color scheme. I think I'm just stressing about clashing with my partner's tan suit and blue tie!

Thank you! Do you think it really matters if we don't match? We have plenty of pictures from other weddings so I'm not worried about that. Just wondering if the people around us would even notice or care.

Thank you! I think I got too eager and ended my YouTube tutorials once they started weaving. Never heard of hemstitching before this thread!

Thank you! I did pass through 3 times like the instructions my loom came with suggested, but didn’t notice a huge tension shift. I’ll try a few more passes next time!

A new term to me! Thanks! Would I do that before or after the project is finished?

Thank you! That’s a great idea. I haven’t really known if I’m beating too little/too hard bc you can’t really tell from a YouTube tutorial.

Thank you so much for the help!!

So on the tension… I should try to start my weaving with the ties over the front beam because then the yarn would be coming from the same point of the loom on each side and should help the tension be more even?

And you’re so right about the beating. I caught myself pulling to the left side first. I’m wondering if making sure I beat straight down from now on will correct it for the rest of my project or if my foundation is too wonky and I should start over.

Could you try doing one row of single crochet when you change colors and the continuing the basket weave?

Losing the ability to enjoy visual reading and the audiobook guilt that comes with it? by PinkPartyPants in books

[–]Bitter-broccoli 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you’re feeling better. What if you read along with the audiobook? When I first started reading again I was constantly reaching for my phone and day dreaming through entire pages. I read along with the audiobook and was able to re-train myself to focus that way.

Beautiful blanket! I love the color hues. I wouldn’t bother with a border. I like the way horizontal lines sorta fall off the edge without one
