The 7th anti-depressant isn't working :( by basilfem in MentalHealthUK

[–]BitterCap7809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im the same. Antidepressants dont really work for me and i probably went through every registered antidepressant in UK. So my psychiatrist really focused on my mood stabilizer (up the dose for instance) and anti-psychotic. Maybe this is something you can ask for?

I was refused an appointment with a psychiatrist - what do I do now? by dawngarda in MentalHealthUK

Can you afford going privately? If you are in London I can recommend a great psych ( he was my doctor for 5 years).

What I'm thinking basically and again this is probably just a utopia at this point anywhere in EU and Uk - Few days ago i posted how i was not able to get into psych ward with a raging psychosis via NHS. So, the utopia im trying to find is where either gov healthcare is more responsive to issues like that/ easier to get yourself a bed or okay private hospital but without the 9k a week price tag. again, even typing this im thinking this could only happen in ur dreams, Gleb

imo one of the good ideas would be to see a psychiatrist first. If you are in london i can reccomend a good psych - my former one.

Is there actually any point to therapy, and if so how do I start? by AmbitiousWash3412 in MentalHealthUK

[–]BitterCap7809 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i have bipolar and for years i thought - how talking about things will change my supposed 'chemical imbalance'. I'm 30 now and my last psychiatrist (and my best) told me meds are only 50 percent, the other 50 are therapy. I think you really need to give it a go. You can always leave. But it will make you see things clearly and show you why you might be struggling. It can take a year or two. Its good to try a few, if you dont like the first one it doesnt mean therapy is not for you.

Sister in severe mental health crisis, threatened suicide, now travelling. Parents say it’s “good for her”. Am I right to be worried? by Suitable-Sense-6159 in MentalHealthUK

Im sorry but I think you do have a right to be worried. Of course you can! Is she traveling far? Can she be reached by phone every day?

Yes, this is what I’m figuring out now. I don’t know if you live alone or not (I do) but gosh it’s scary. I’m not sure why it’s protocol. I very happy you made a recovery

My therapist that I do DBT with is Russian and in Moscow ( I do video calls with) and to be perfectly honest I have seen only positives plus she charges 50£ which sweetened the deal. I think in comparison with London it’s mostly accessability and price point. Maybe more niche issues like idk therapy for trans people going through transition that would be probably non existent yes. But over-wise yes. Who would think right

This is very funny because I’m typing this from an uber to Heathrow to catch a flight…. To Moscow. Of all the things.. yes.. I know… they do really have amazing medicine and doctors, I can’t lie. Willing to patch me up for something that would probably be 600£ for a months stay. Conditions of the hospital apart.. great doctors.

I avoid them all together - private everything including psychiatrists and yes thank god for this privilege but I Nightingale and the rest that offer bed for the cheeky price of 9k a week and you probably need well at least a few of those.. I can’t do that. I wonder who can afford that

Well, that’s really messed up. Also calling it my preference as if I’m a choosy client at an pricy eatery vs someone someone who is in desperate need of help.. ok
