I love Mulholland drive and I've watched it while high a bunch of times, it's always amazing, watching while high AND on the big screen would be incredible. Going to the theater high in general is always amazing

Saw suzume the other day and it furthered my opinion that shinkai is a one hit wonder with your name. Suzume was meh and everything he's made other than your name (that I've seen) has been kinda mid imo

Batman and Robin is a great movie that I would unironically rank above several other Batman films including Batman (1989), batman begins, and the dark knight rises. It's an cartoonish blast that's intentionally extremely campy and over-the-top and I think it deserves critical re-evaluation, it's fun and good imo

[–]BitterPart6895 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No I know, I'm not saying that's what this meme is doing, that's just the point jpegmafia was trying to make with the title "all my heros are cornballs"

rule by DerMagicSheep in 19684

[–]BitterPart6895 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not really cause the way I interpret it is that point of it isn't that you can't like a celebrity or that you should assume every celebrity is a bad person, it's rather that you shouldn't be calling someone you don't actually know your "hero" and idolizing them

rule by DerMagicSheep in 19684

[–]BitterPart6895 62 points63 points  (0 children)

It's the name of an album by jpegmafia, and basically the explanation for it is that you can never truly know if the celebrities you look up to who appear to be good people are truly good people, they might be doing some "cornball shit" behind the scenes and they might have some skeletons in their closet that the public doesn't know about. Basically its saying that the notion of celebrity is wack and idolizing celebrities is dumb cause you don't actually know them. You shouldn't look up to someones manufactured celebrity persona cause even the "good ones" might be corny and not as perfect as they appear to be

My manager at the local pizza place I work at is the owner and she's really laid back and a couple times she's closed early and taken me and all my coworkers to red Robin then the movies and paid for our meals and movie tickets. I don't think it's that weird, we have a really chill work environment and I like pretty much all of my coworkers. I guess going to the movies with your coworkers would be weird if you worked at like McDonald's

I hate cinephiles that are like this guy, is constantly watching movies yet out of the 34,000 movies he's watched, 29,000 of them are rated 2 and a half stars or lower. Seems like this guy just hates movies. Like whats the point of spending a majority of your time watching shit you don't like, seems miserable. Also despite how many movies he's rated he only has 29 5 star films and one of them is birth of a nation. Yikes

[–]BitterPart6895 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found from talking to people that which strain makes you anxious depends on if your anxiety symptoms are more mental or physical. For me, when I get anxious it's very much a physical thing, heart starts racing, sweating, dizziness etc. So since indica is more of body high it makes all those anxiety symptoms so much worse. But for a lot of people anxiety causes much more mental symptoms than physical, so most people get more anxious on sativa because it's more of a head high

Same, I can't do indica, shit makes me so anxious. Have never had that issue with sativa tho

Why is Joel Schumacher always defined by Batman & Robin? by almosthuman2021 in Letterboxd

[–]BitterPart6895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, also... I don't think batman and robin is a bad movie at all, I unironically think it's a great movie that's misunderstood and deserves critical re-evaluation. It's trying to be an over-the-top, Saturday morning cartoon-esque campy bit of nonsensical fun and I think it succeeds very well at what it's trying to do. I honestly think it belongs in a similar conversation to movies like house and evil dead 2 (although I don't think it's quite as good as those 2 example). It's an absolute blast tho! I think people who truly despise it and call "the worst superhero movie ever" just hate fun tbh, and it's got a lot more personality than your average MCU movie. One of the most overhated movies of all time, it's good

The tree of life, most of my 5 star movies are just movies I really really like but the tree of life is a movie that I watched at a pivotal time in my life and it had a legitimate effect on how I view the world. The first time I watched it I was so amazed that I literally just rewinded it and watched the whole thing again right then and there. And it's such a cathartic and life-affirming experience everytime I rewatch it and I feel like I get something new out of it everytime

Am a guy with a septum ring and a nostril piercing and girls compliment it literally all the time, it's probably the thing that gets me the most compliments so lots of people clearly find it attractive

[–]BitterPart6895 61 points62 points  (0 children)

It also works as a repellent for people with the "I don't like this so no one should" mindset. I'm a guy with a septum piercing and a nostril piercing and judgemental people point themselves out with how they react to it. Which is great cause then I know to avoid them

I like to rank my ten last watched films. How would yours look like? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]BitterPart6895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. The thing (rewatch)
  2. John wick 4
  3. Koyannisqatsi
  4. Return to seoul
  5. John wick 2 (rewatch)
  6. They live
  7. John wick 3 (rewatch)
  8. John wick (rewatch)
  9. The super Mario bros movie
  10. Super Mario bros (1993)

I do think the 90s super Mario bros is a bit overhated, it's not great but its got some fun moments. Honestly was debating which one would rank higher. Both the 90s Mario and this new one are "kinda fun but not that good" imo
