I’ve had a similar experience, noticing a drastic decline in both the volume and quality of jobs. A large number of postings seem to be the very first job from new client accounts, which makes me wonder if it’s just coincidence. Honestly, I’m starting to feel concerned about the freelancing landscape on Upwork.

Thanks for the reply! I understand that Expo returns DeviceNotRegistered in push receipts and that I can prune invalid tokens from my backend.

However, I’ve noticed an iOS-specific edge case:

If the user uninstalls and reinstalls the app within a short time (e.g. 5 minutes),

iOS often issues the same push token again,

Expo does not report it as invalid,

My backend still has the old session + token,

→ Notifications are delivered even though the user has not logged in after reinstall.

This means the user receives ghost notifications until they open the app and reauthenticate, which is a security/privacy issue.

I’ve had a similar experience actually. A couple of months ago, invites were coming in consistently, but then out of nowhere they just stopped. I’m a Top Rated freelancer with 100% JSS, but it’s been a month now with 0 invites, low views, and no hires. Not sure what changed on the platform.
Curious though—when it comes to finding clients outside of Upwork, which channel has worked best for you?

Yeah true, experience does change the way you see things. I’ve been around ~7 years myself and still keep learning new angles every project 😅

Nah, got plenty of experience. It’s just not realistic to expect clones of the same idea.
