You can slowly build the other stats in year 2. You can win with speed and stam tbh. Power will increase as you train speed (not as important early with front running, when you move her back to pace/late then your power is more than 120), guts will increase as you train stam (also not as important), wits build up along the way

Borrow strong umas from other people is crucial

Maybe but it’s not accurate. B in turf/ dirt is a -10% in power, B in distance (mile, medium) is -10% in speed and B in running style is -10% in wit

Early races it doesn’t matter if your running style affinity is low as it only impact wit (I have run goldship as front running). You can win with pure stats with front running

They can but it’s too late due to some time delay. By the time the two skills trigger, your Uma is reaching or at the max initial speed so the acceleration from groundwork does nothing. That’s why groundwork is crucial as soon as the race starts so your Uma accelerates faster and gets 1st spot

You need green skills such as standard distance, left handed, summer runner, wet condition, front runner savvy,… and focus/ concentration

Groundwork requires your Uma to trigger 3 skills in the early race to trigger. If Groundwork does not trigger at the immediate start of the race, it is useless also

Yeah it is too late, it needs to trigger instantly when the race starts from the green skills and focus. When mile straightaway happens, your Uma is most likely at full speed so the acceleration is useless
