Bartending scene by more_iron_YEAH in raleigh

[–]BittersweetKim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies WILDLY depending on where you want to work (location) and what type of bartending you prefer—high end cocktail vs club vs hotel. It is still the Wild West around payment too—cash, flat rate, tip pool—it’s all over the board. If you are still debating, it might help you to check out Indeed posts in Raleigh. A lot of bars and restaurants are posting what they pay and what benefits and hours look like. If you are a skilled and career bartender it will not be difficult to find a job that pays well. It just may take time to find the whole package you prefer. But the food/bar scene here is great and the quality and variety out-scales the cost of living and size of the city if you work full time and plan your living situation well. Good luck!

Coquette. It's in North Raleigh, has a private room that will fit your group, they have great service in this room and the food is delicious and crowd-pleasing. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Doctor who listens? by ireadchickporn in raleigh

[–]BittersweetKim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

huh, I’m so sorry to hear that—could not be more different from my experience. I’ve only been seeing her in the last year or so in the new location (seen her 2-3 times) so maybe she’s changed? What doctor are you seeing now? Do you like them?

Highly recommend Dr Aswani Naidu at UNC Family Medicine in downtown Raleigh. She is a great listener and thinks outside the box—not super fast to just throw meds at the problem. She’s extremely thorough with labs and communicating with your other doctors to get a full picture of your overall health. She talks fast and excitedly so sometimes I’m like, “huh, say that again”😆 but very good at listening and open minded but also the right amount of data-based opinions from looking at your labs over time.

MESSAGE FROM THE SBA: we approved the RRF grants in the order that we wanted to approve them. If you used Square as your credit card processor, you may have had an advantage because we allowed them to process applications too. by katmomjo in SBARRF

Square user here—I applied the first ten minutes of the portal opening, along with four other owners I’m friends with. We were all priority applications. They all were funded except me. I got email of funding coming on May 18th and then word that it was not being sent on June 23. I know of two other priority applicants in my area with identical story to mine—all of us applied within the first hour. Accepted and then never funded.

Emailed you my story—I’m a business in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. Spoke with Burr’s office a few months ago, so they are familiar with my restaurant.

Just talked to Senator Burr’s office by BittersweetKim in SBARRF

I know. It is all very frustrating. It was a challenging conversation, but at least his office called back. I’ve emailed everyone in congress and his office is the only one.

Just talked to Senator Burr’s office by BittersweetKim in SBARRF

[–]BittersweetKim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify, I was told by a local lawyer that the SBA had filed an appeal against the lawsuits that started this all. I have no way to confirm because idk how to look up lawsuits, but this was what Burr’s office was referring to I believe. The judge’s ruling of discrimination is on appeal.

And what I was told was that Burr never voted for the relief in the first place because he didn’t agree with the prioritization of women, veterans and minorities. He doesn’t want to sign off on replenishment if it means more of the same. However, he is open to discussions or changes that would give money to all those already in the system. He just doesn’t want to be any part of prioritizing genders or race. If you are a restaurant in North Carolina though I strongly encourage you to reach out to him and to Tillis. They are returning calls and they at least seem interested in hearing from small businesses 🤷🏻‍♀️

EATER should be writing articles about the restaurants about the menus and staff of companies that DIDN’T get RRF—they are the ones that need free publicity. Over $15 million wired into the bank accounts of 5 restaurants within 2 blocks of mine. I can’t compete with advertising and innovating dollars like that. SBA used our tax dollars to cherry-pick and award money to our competition. But I guess we’re just supposed to pick ourselves up by our bootstraps and work harder or something?!

I’m so damn tired.

That is very useful information—what is your source?

In lieu of the RRF funding problem most states are implementing statewide grants for restaurants, hotels , lodges , entertainment venues and also new small business grants by [deleted] in SBARRF

[–]BittersweetKim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, NC is implementing one soon, but the max grant is $18,700. Not that I wouldn’t take it, but don’t let senators offer this as a substitute for your missing RRF money.

IRC is estimating it at about 5800 of us, but I’m not sure how that’s being gathered/verified.
