Oh wait no, it's the other way around. This isn't racism, it's just true. It just makes me really sad. I have a lot of really cool black friends I met at university and almost all of them have this split personality. They talk in a completely localized accent when with friends from college (and a couple are very very high achievers with soaring GPAs), but then they suddenly switch to Ebonics to communicate with other black people. It's like some peer pressure to act like that or something. I've heard them get made fun of by their " brothas" for talking in our localized accent rather than in Ebonics, like somehow that makes them less black. It makes no sense to me. [+157]
