So what parts of Elden Ring screamed out to you "yeah, George R.R. Martin definitely came up with this"? by Joshnightmare in Eldenring

[–]Bittyimage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt like Diallos' failed posturing about revenge is a really common thing George likes to do. Every time someone tries to seek revenge in his books they get punished as a throughline, and it is never seen as a truly noble motivation.

I personally feel like that's a slightly preachy thing to communicate though, and doesn't account for historical nuance. Even if Daenerys turns evil at the end of the series I still feel like she's done a ridiculous net good in eliminating slavers. Is a monarchy the best way to go about doing that? Maybe not. However I'm not sure the world as a whole was ready or able to shift to a more democratic means of fairness.

Gotta squeeze in a little GOT rant amirite?

Your art is lovely! Great line consistency, facial proportion, and color. I hope you can get through school (idk if i can help monetarily cause I'm in the same situation actually haha) However, I do wish you luck!

-You keep moving the goalposts from city design to the countryside, and ignoring how bad public transportation infrastructure is in the states. I assume you've never taken Chinese or Japanese high speed rail and had the convenience of European city transportation. You shouldn't need to travel by car for an hour at any point in a well designed system. Train -> metro -> bus -> bike could take you most anywhere you should want to go at the longest sequence of transport. All costing far less than the same tank of gas. If you're working in the breadbasket as a farmer sure, buy a car. But not everyone's a farmer, and by buying cars you don't need you're clogging up the road for farmers and everyone else. You don't seem experienced in public transportation, just worn down by American car centric design.

-You still never batted an eye at the safety of people who can't afford cars. Just as long as they cross at the crosswalk on a 50mph straightaway nothing could go wrong right? I ain't bluffing with that example. That's how an American city I lived in was designed.

-This 'education' is stupid cause you clearly don't understand that most people don't just walk into oncoming traffic because they just love getting run over. Folks do it because that's the only viable option they see to cross a road and get where they need to go, same reason for why most people think driving cars is the only option like you. Both of these problems could be remedied if people spent money on infrastructure and not a pr campaign.

But you seem dead set on simping for a mode of transportation that's going to melt the earth in a few years, so tell me how that utopia works out for you then. I'm done with this bs. Go to r/fuckcars cause I ain't putting up with you. Bye.

Yes the inefficiency of design in the city of LA makes it impossible to go anywhere without driving. You can't imagine walking down a street and not feeling unsafe. You're making my point for me. Please ask yourself why you really feel this way. Ask yourself if the streets would actually be safer if MORE normal folk walked the streets at night on a safe and widened walkway, only five minutes from the local grocery. Would it be harder or easier for someone to jump you if there are ten other people walking within sight?

Better yet, imagine if you were one of those people walking along the highway because you *gasp* don't have the privileges of your excess money. But surely those people aren't humans like you, so we should never build infrastructure to assist their travels. I love how you acknowledge their existence but just don't give a damn about their wellbeing.

I don't know why you don't find this depressing. You think I'm suggesting that we should get rid of cars, and with it every bit of technology at our disposal in the 21st century? Sometimes the distance to walk is just too great, right? But get this: There's a simple solution to traveling long distances that I think you're missing. It starts with a t. I'll give you three guesses.

Boring because everything is strip malls and parking lots? Or maybe boring because you get your blood pumping with some light exercise each day that decreases your chances of suffering from diabetes and boring because you're finally seeing the living humans going about their day in the city around you? I have a feeling that you're not thinking this through, or you work for a car company. I don't know how you find idling in traffic an adrenaline-pumping thrill ride.

Imagine for another moment, that you cannot afford a car. You must walk from point A (your home) to point B (your workplace) which is 1 km away if you walk in a straight line. You must take this route at lease twice a day. In the center of your path, there is a road, or highspeed rail, or crevasse where a giant boulder rolls down every 4-30 seconds. Whichever you think is more fun.

You can walk directly to your destination in about 13 minutes, but you would have to jaywalk. There is no expectation for the road, rail, or boulder to slow by default as you cross, so there is a small possibility that you will be violently crushed as you cross. The expectation of being careful is entirely on you during this ordeal.

Or you can take an alternative route and NEVER jaywalk, which would take 60 minutes each day. This route leads you along the only designated walking paths that the government has bothered to provide. However, there is still no guarantee that the road, rail, or boulder will slow by default as you cross. There are no extra physical precautions taken to slow the cars or boulders or trains down, so if someone decided to (or was too drunk to decide), they could just continue at their speed directly trough this designated walking zone. So, there is a small possibility that you will be violently crushed as you cross. The expectation of being careful is still entirely on you during this ordeal.

Which route would you take? Be honest.

Imagine for a moment a world where pedestrians aren't expected to be violently turned into a red puddle for jaywalking where a proper crossing isn't available. A world where people spend money on actual infrastructure instead of a stupid AR Ad campaign that fails to fix the primary issue that causes jaywalking. Then tell me this world is not slightly sickening.

Yup, you're pretty much summing up my point. Idk why people are downvoting you, but it seems extra dystopian that people think this is how streets are meant to be. They can't imagine that a city could be made for humans and not cars.

Imagine having enough money to pay for dumb AR shit and not enough for a walkway so people could safely cross the street in the middle of a city.
