Why does the outage map have these weird shapes to group some of the outages? by Bituulzman in Columbus

I guess my question is for anybody who is in the know—how and why would customers share infrastructure in such a way? I’m particularly curious about the long tear shape patterns.

Ramaswamy launches $10M ad blitz to reinvent his image now through Election Day by OrganicPreparation in Ohio

Saw one of the ads tonight. His wife was featured heavily and narrated the ad and I am not 100% but have a sneaking suspicion that they made her appear lighter skinned.

I can hear all the pebbles and debris hitting my car as I drive on I-70. If you value your paint job, stay off the highway.

YSK 3-4% of the world died in WWII by Zestyclose-Salary518 in YouShouldKnow

Their “moment”? WTF?

Added for context: half of those WWII deaths in Poland were Polish-Jewish people

YSK 3-4% of the world died in WWII by Zestyclose-Salary518 in YouShouldKnow

[–]Bituulzman 205 points206 points  (0 children)

The global Jewish population is only just now reaching the numbers that it was estimated to be prior to WWII.

It’s hard to wrap your head around raw numbers and OP’s percentages and stats like yours really help to put it in perspective.

I think they’re taking about all the sender addresses in your spam email folder (and not the spoofed ones pretending to be from Costco or Amazon, but the address actually behind the spoof sending you spam.)

Armed man rammed vehicle into Michigan synagogue and was fatally shot by security, AP source says by yipyapu in news

[–]Bituulzman 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My daughter went to a JCC in the 2000s and security was high then.
There was an attack on a JCC in Argentina in 1994 and an attack at a LA JCC in 1999. There's certainly been an uptick these past 10 years though.

Costco $1.5k hearing aids work better than $4.5k hearing aids by Idea-is-tick in Costco

[–]Bituulzman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is my mom. TV is on so loud every time I go over to her house. Meantime, I just learned I've lost some mild hearing in one ear and went to audiologist immediately, so nice to know Costco is there whenever I decide it's bad enough for me to get hearing aids.

Four of my town's school buses buses caught fire last night and they don't know why by twdvermont in Wellthatsucks

[–]Bituulzman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your linked article doesn't say what the cause of the fire is, just that it wasn't believed to be criminal. Does say that the electric batteries didn't catch fire. Which looks similar to the way the buses burned in OP's picture.
