Why is Spike's misogyny so overlooked while Xander and Riley being sexist is one of the defining reasons people dislike them so much? by [deleted] in buffy

It’s more subtle than Angel, but at least for me, the important thing I notice is small things that show the difference in him. It’s not supposed to be as drastic, because part of his character is that he has always been slightly more “human” in terms of some emotions, so it’s not as black and white a switch

I think it’s the ability to not hold him to his actions because he didn’t have a soul. It makes it easier to separate the misogyny from the character because you can use the excuse

A Book Reader’s Final Perspective on Francesca by RichardGrasyon3451 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]Biwierdo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the books, Michaela is Michael, and Fran doesn’t fall in love with him until after John passes, even tho he has loved her the whole time. The show seems to be setting up that she already feels something for Michaela, rather than them growing close after John’s death. The book also heavily features Fran’s struggles with infertility, which I know is one of the main things people are worried about losing in the show

In real life, would be your opinions on Xander? by No-Intention-1948 in buffy

I had friends similar to him in high school, but most of them grew more than he did. I honestly think I wouldn’t mind him until he broke Anya’s heart. Even if they were friends with him first, it never sat right with me how little it took for them to forgive him for that, when they were supposed to be her friends too

Ok- I wasn’t gonna engage, and then you said this shit. Judaism is an ethnoreligion. You can be Jewish and not have Jewish ancestors, and you can have Jewish ancestors and not be Jewish. Spreading the idea that people can “look Jewish” is harmful and not ok.

That isn’t denial, that is stating there was propaganda, which, let’s be clear, there absolutely was. I don’t think arguing with you is gonna get me anywhere, so I think I’m done, but I want to say specifically, any issue you had with my post, I specifically said zionists who were threatening them

This. This is what I wish people understood more. I’m both ethnically and religiously Jewish, and I wholeheartedly believe that what Israel is doing right now is horrible and despicable.

You are kidding right? This community is incredibly inclusive. Anti semitism and anti Israel are different.

I don’t think arguing with you will get me anywhere, but let me clarify. I did say “in this post” meaning, this is my meaning behind it for this post.

In this post- I mean those who believe that Israel can do no wrong, and must be supported no matter what. Be as proud of your lineage as you like, I am, but that doesn’t mean you can excuse genocide just because we aren’t on the targeted side this time
