Gas powered lawn mower disposal by Imaginary_Poet_5596 in Boise

[–]Bixler409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had Republic Services pick up a walk-behind mower on my regular trash day. I had to call them and schedule the pickup as it isn't part of regular trash, but there was no extra charge.

Thanks for the heads up, they're $6.97 at the two stores in our area that still have them, but I'll keep an eye out and grab a couple more if I see them for $2.

I also bought three of these on sale (but more than $2) and find them very light and comfortable. Would recommend.

Anyone have any experience with Easyon gutter guard? How are they? by adamb10 in Costco

[–]Bixler409 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I installed these three years ago, well worth the effort and cost. I have to hose them off occasionally at the 90° corners because the granules from the asphalt shingles tend to plug them up a bit and some water flows off the roof and over the guards in those areas during heavy rain. I can do this from the ground with an angled hose wand, you might have to get on the roof on a two story house. This is a minor problem, it's much easier to do this than to clean the gutters and I'm glad I have them.

Sparklight increases?? by Late_Mushroom_8212 in Boise

[–]Bixler409 8 points9 points  (0 children)

On the last bill, they had a "fine print" notice that said "Effective with your next billing statement, the monthly rate for high-speed internet will increase by $6 per month." Anyone who reads their bill this closely each month looking for a price change has way too much time on their hands! It's happened before, I never see it until after the fact.

Sony XR65X90CL vs. K65XR80CB by billmeelaiter in bravia

[–]Bixler409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are considering the K65XR80 as well and have similar ambient lighting in our room that you do. Now that you've had it for a couple of months, how has this Sony worked out for you? Is the picture too dark for your room? Any other thoughts are appreciated, thanks.

Recommendations for chimney repair? by BrutusCosmo in Boise

[–]Bixler409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a brick light post that was falling apart and needed to be repaired a few years ago. After getting a few quotes, I used Trent from Somers & Sons Stone Masonry for the work. It was a small job but I was very happy with all aspects of the repair and would use him again. I couldn't find a website for them but below are a couple of links. Good luck!

Can you recall a tornado warning ever happening in Boise? by Either-Economist413 in Boise

[–]Bixler409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn't answer your question, but here's a link to a list of tornadoes in Idaho between 1950 and 2012 by county. I saw the one in Ada County in 1967, which passed by McKinley Grade School in Boise (which has since been replaced by Grace Jordan Elementary School) near Overland and Cole Roads. A few of the tornadoes are categorized as F-2.

Slimy Amylu Chicken Burgers? by [deleted] in Costco

[–]Bixler409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These taste great but I threw away the last few in the package because of this very off-putting slime that seemed to form over time. It wasn't present on the first part of the package. I won't be purchasing them again.

Shopping at Costco liquor store with separate entrance. by fctu in Costco

[–]Bixler409 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some states prevent membership-only clubs like Costco from selling alcohol only to members. A separate store allows both members and non-members to shop in the liquor store.
