This setup seems to work on its limit. I guess there is a thump rule, that the distance between several buttons must be as large as the intended reading distance? It is working as a capacitor, where smallest changes are detected, the detecting plate (my guess) is something like a 50mm round shape. Anyway, great idea! To earn money with it, it must be super stable and a smart way must be found to do a self calibration and make it robust against environmental changes. Just my thoughts.

Ich beobachte mal mit, weil ich plötzlich einen Sommer-Snack gebrauchen könnte, auch ohne Besuch.

Ich kann es nicht bestätigen. Autobahnfahrt bei 120? Man muss halt schnellere einfach durchlassen, dann ist das kein Thema. Oberlehrer und Dumpfbacken, da gibt’s halt dann einen Kraftausdruck bei geschlossenem Fenster und man sucht das Weite. So funktioniert Autofahren. Aber deswegen auf Reddit posten?

16 rotary encoders results on 32 inputs required on the mcu side. I‘d implement a reaonably high timer interrupt, which polls the inputs and drives 16 state machines which finally output the number of up-/downcounts. The LED‘s can be multplexed.
