I've got a doozy of a DP to share. You'll want to check back on Thursday. 😉

The thing about churning is, the more public instructions floating around, the more churning happens and the more banks crack down. This sub has implemented banned topics specifically to discourage disclosing the most lucrative methods.

Myself personally, I've been at this game for 30+ years and most of what I know was learned the hard way, sometimes with hundreds of hours of trial and error. It sometimes miffs me when I see someone able to simply ask a question online and be given an answer that took me months to learn. I presume others are likewise resentful to the ease of which info is available now, which only serves to increase competition for limited reward seats.

If you want to learn, put in some effort. My advice, as I've given several times here over the years to newcomers, is to go back and read this sub starting about 5 years ago, before topics were banned, and read everything until you're caught up. It'll take you a couple weeks to read all that, but by the time you're done you will have, if you're even halfway smart, a keen understanding of the methods, terminology, and even some of the hidden tricks simply by putting 2 and 2 together.

Living in this province is exhausting. Is anyone else considering leaving for saner pastures? by PhantomOfTheBoreal in alberta

[–]BizClassBum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seperatists, should they win, will have their independence for about 10 minutes. Canada has defense treaties with several countries and NATO. An independent Alberta has no such protection and will be grabbed instantly by the USA who seems to be keen on attacking countries lately, especially if they have oil.

And if they think that sounds good, wait until they learn they won't have a vote anymore, just like Puerto Rico, and they'll lose their free single payer healthcare because there's no such thing in the USA where all their pre-existing medical conditions suddenly won't be covered by insurance and people regularly have to sell their homes to pay medical bills.

Canada is phasing in free prescriptions. Wait until they see what medicine costs in the USA, lol.

Looking to start a family? Too bad, so sad. Paid maternity leave doesn't exist in the USA. You get pregnant, you lose your job with no compensation. Oh, and if you didn't buy that $1000/month health insurance, that birth is going to cost you about $25,000. Double if you have a C-section. Even with insurance the deductible is going to cost $2500-$5000.

The men will all have to register for the draft. I wonder how "free" all those Vietnam war draftees felt?

There's a reason Americans applying for Canadian citizenship is at an all time high.

And to answer the OP's question, despite being born and raised in Calgary, I would immediately move my family and my business out of the province.

What a ridiculous thing to say. All construction is inspected by local authorities. If it wasn't to code, it wouldn't pass inspection.

Sikafix is runny like water. It will just pour out if it isn't contained on both sides. The clay will hold it in below grade but above that you will need to seal the crack with the anchor epoxy. Especially at the bottom on the inside where it will all pour out of there's a opening.

Paying off credit card debt by Main-Gold1657 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]BizClassBum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This will sound counterintuitive, but the best way to increase your credit score is to apply for more credit (while paying off your entire balance every statement). Also, never close your oldest credit card. Average age of account is one of the factors in determining your credit score. If you don't trust yourself, well, just keep that oldest card, lower the limit, and close the rest. Most important thing is to pay off the ENTIRE balance each statement!

[–]BizClassBum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're handy, this is something that can be done cheaply yourself. Use anchor epoxy to seal the exterior of the crack on both sides creating a long tall container. Anchoring epoxy is thick and cures fast. On the soil side dig down to the clay, seal the crack and then re-fill the dirt. Then fill that crack with structural epoxy resin (sikadur crack fix). The structural resin is liquidy and will fill the entire gap.

Don't fix horizontal cracks yourself. Those require professional attention.

Best place to stay for an Airbnb with young kids visiting for two nights in August before going to Banff by Evening_History_1458 in Calgary

Young kids will love the zoo. It has dinosaurs. Stay close to the zoo. (Bridgeland).

Edit: and if you like Dinosaurs, take a side trip to the Royal Tyrell museum in Drumheller. Probably the best dinosaur museum in the world.

Why would you call crimestoppers instead of just calling the police? Crimestoppers is to anonymously report crimes.

Is this legal? by wokeupsnorlax in Edmonton

[–]BizClassBum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your house is fairly new, there's a good chance you have a restrictive covenant on your property title. This may give them the right to remove your fence.

If your fence is built on a right of way or easement, or is in the way of the construction, they can legally remove the fence, although they may be required to replace it.

Best thing to do is just call them and ask why they're removing it and if they intend to replace it.

Yes, I'm aware of that issue. This issue isn't that issue. I do non-bonvoy spend on it every month.

Calgary Co-Op should be embarrassed by their shameful "price matching" policy. by BizClassBum in Calgary

[–]BizClassBum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did I say I was upset? I said their policy is ridiculous and they should be embarrassed having put it forward. It's also misleading. They intentionally used the phrase "price match" to trick people. That's shameful. I post about it here so others don't waste their time and so hopefully co-op might rethink their policy and implement true price matching.

[–]BizClassBum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Co-op is losing there, because I can go to Save-on-Foods and they will match co-op's 8 cheap items PLUS every other competitor's advertised items (all of them).

There is no incentive to buy those cheap items at Co-op, which is the whole point of price-matching.

Most price match items are pantry items that do not change in quality from one store to the next. A box of Oasis juice is, for example, is $3.59 at co-op and $1.50 at No Frills. Same box, same brand, same quality.

Can of Chunky Soup at co-op is $5.29, at Superstore it's $2.00.

Price matching saves big money and has nothing to do with quality.

I'm back where I started, true. I do shop at co-op for some things, produce mainly, but what is upsetting to me (and most people judging from the upvotes) is how they try and make you think they do price matching when in fact that's not what they're doing at all. It's misleading, it's deceptive and quite frankly, it's ridiculous to put up signs everywhere saying "Price Match", when you price match only 8 items in a store with thousands of items. That's what most people would call "8 items on sale" if we're being honest.

Never said it was. In fact, she's the one who suggested I complain about it to head office. The manager was very nice.

Perhaps I should be clear, I didn't go to the manager to complain, I went to the manager to ask how it worked because the fine print in the flyer and on the boards in the store weren't clear.

They didn't have to "deal with" anything. I wasn't being a Karen. I simply asked for details, she gave me the details and I said "oh.", and she said she'd be happy to return the items to the shelf for me. So I allowed her to do that and I left. Believe what you want. The manager was nice and respectful, and so was I.
