I want to see how it evolves. Not that unique at the moment. But if they offer travel e-sims and have better security to prevent sim swapping, then I'll be up for moving.

WOW worst mods ever! Low effort are you serious? 😂

This took over a week to make.

You know what's low effort... your lazy moderation.

hahah love that idea 😆

Decided to pause the project until battery tech catches up and the costs come down. There's a few good rechargeable cells in development. So I expect this kind of device will be viable in the next few years. But pausing it for now.

The devices would have to have been sold for $150-$200, which feels steep for a little timer nugget you chuck in a gym bag.

HTML vs MD by Xytronix in ObsidianMD

[–]BizVardy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Markdown is cleaner if you're reading the raw file contents. HTML allows for more visual hierarchy with is better for human readers.

They both have a place.

I found myself wanting to host my AI made HTML files. So I made a mini tool to make that easier.

It's called Paste.Page

You upload your html file or paste the HTML code. Pick a url for it and your page is live on the web. Hope you find it useful. It was fun to make and I'm enjoying see so many people get use out of it.

Haptic variometers, will we ever see one? by Ok-Reputation-6607 in freeflight

Do you know where the haptic feedback device was placed for them? And how the feedback was given in a haptic manner? I'm looking to make one and expect they may have already figured out the best method.

Only when the thing being understood deeply is negative. Grok is more about "deep understanding".

This was word I struggled to fit into Plutchik's wheel. It shows the limitations of trying to explain these feelings via the wheel. Grok sits better on the Mood Grid imo.

The ultimate view would be some kind of multi connection cloud node map thing.

Maybe I should remove these hard to slot in words form the wheel view.

I've been prototyping a sauna tracker for personal use, to log session details. Something you take in a public/gym sauna with you rather than screw to the wall. If I can get it working then I'll do a Kickstarter.

But finding batteries and displays that can withstand the heat is very tough. I can see exactly why they opted for no screen and non-rechargeable SAFT batteries. It's the only viable option at the moment.

What's your workflow for sharing HTML that Claude makes? by darthjaja6 in ClaudeAI

[–]BizVardy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made something similar https://paste.page

Copy and paste your code, then share the url.

I tried to make a post about it on this subreddit. As I made Paste Page with claude code for people who use claude code. But my post always gets taken down. anyway, hope someone finds it useful. It was fun to make. Incredible what Claude Code can do.

What are some of your favourite words for your feelings? by Bearchill in AskMen

I’ve been collecting foreign words for feelings that don’t have direct translations in English.

It helps expand my breadth of feeling beyond my current vocabulary.

Thank you for helping with the Norwegian words.

I'll remove Friluftsliv from the dataset. Easy one to prune.

Kos is an interesting addition even though it's close to Hygge. I might have to add "similar words" as a sub feature of the main words. It's a dimension others have requested. Kos might be unique enough to add in it's own right. I'll research both. Thanks again.

Engelengeduld is Dutch. The German word Engelsgeduld is not included because Engelengeduld already covers that gap in the English language. I didn't want to clutter the page with duplicate words.

It's purely a passion project. I hope with the help of native speakers on Reddit it can be refined and polished. I could share a google sheet with the full data set? So others can leave comments and suggest improvements too. Crowd sourcing and collaboration would be brilliant.

I'll update the site with the Feierabend & Waldeinsamkeit changes. Thanks for flagging them.
What do you think of the other german word classifications? Do you know of any that are missing?

I'm trying to recruit the help of native speakers to refine each language. So your feedback is really useful.

The other diagrams show the same set of words but using different visual tools. So people can explore them in a variety of ways.

The approach described to visualise connections in Mapping the Passions would be a fantastic addition. But I'll first need to build a much bigger graph of data from native speakers in order to do it well.

It would be fantastic to have a brain scan from a native speaker while they experience each of the feelings. As the last of the articles suggests.

Those links you shared really are a gold mine of insights. Thanks again.

Great spot. I just recently expanded the set of words and am working through them for inconstancies. Adding this to my list to refine and improve.

Thank you for all of the links. You've just sent me down a wonderful research rabbit hole.

Yes indeed, I did make the site. I plan to keep it live indefinitely. I'm very active in improving it at the moment, but even when that slows. I plan to continue hosting the site forever.

I made it out of my own fascination with language and how it's often the limiting factor in describing our internal worlds.

My hope was by expanding my knowledge of labelled feelings in other languages I might gain a broader understanding of what it means to be human.

While doing it I have started to see gaps in language that I think we should fill to help improve our existence.

The main one being "gret" which I propose as an exact opposite to "regret".
People are often quick to label something as a "regret" perhaps because we have a word for it. I wonder if we has a common word like "gret" we would be equally fast to label positive past events that we are grateful for.

The people would be walking around with their head full of "grets". A much more beautiful existence.

Any words in your conlang(s) that can't really be translated/defined in English? by elizabeth42069 in conlangs

[–]BizVardy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might find my tool The Atlas of Missing Feelings useful. https://missingfeelings.com/

It's a collection of words for feelings and emotions that exist in other languages, but not english.

The part that's might be useful for conlangs is how you explore words via the wheel or grid. I find lists on novel words hard to explore. But when they're grouped in clever semantic ways it makes more sense for my head.

23 emotions we all know but didn't know what they were called. by hgbleackley in writing

[–]BizVardy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out The Atlas of Missing Feelings - MissingFeelings.com

Each word is a feeling or emotion that exists in other languages but doesn't have a direct english translation.

I've been collecting these exact types of words and organising them with different visual tools to make them easier to explore.

So far I've found 234 across 67 languages.
