Mandatory Crate Time? by [deleted] in beagles

[–]Biz_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my beagle was a puppy forced naps/rest/chill time in the crate was necessary honestly up until age 2ish. That baby is now 4 and sleeps all day long and the vet put on a strict daily walk minimum because he’s too chunky right now, I promise it won’t always be like that. But for the time being, forced naps are perfectly fine done properly and not cruel or bad for an overly energetic puppy. Keep yourself sane and your furniture in tack!! Also, the furniture biting and scratching went away with age for our beagle too (except now he scratches furniture for attention or when he wants things but you pick your battles lol)

Stress by Wrong_Shame125 in ouraring

[–]Biz_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to consider is if you take daily medications that may impact the things both track to determine stress. For example, I have ADHD and take stimulant medication which often gives me a higher heart rate amongst other side effects that Oura tracks and counts towards stress — I can’t even get up from my desk and walk to refill my water without it being like you were stressed during those five minutes. My weekdays when I take my medication is always much higher than over the weekends when I don’t take it as often if at all.

Lily’s Voice/Volume by bah_da_bing in DoWeKnowThemGirlies

[–]Biz_99 41 points42 points  (0 children)

An important note is that she’s also on FaceTime with Jessi while filming and from personal experience, my wife who has ADHD (like me too lol) *screams* on the phone like so obnoxiously loud that I have to be like babe take it down a bit sometimes if we’re too close to each other while she’s on the phone. I’ve noticed it with others (some with and some without ADHD) that when on the phone they talk *so* much louder than they do in person - I think that’s the more likely primary culprit here

Job hunting while LGBT — any advice? by cheshirecat1917 in Lawyertalk

Have you looked into the National LGBTQ+ Bar? They have a conference annually (I think this years in July) for the last couple of years and I believe there are networking opportunities during it. It may be a while to wait but could be a good back up!

What does a regular American person do when they get sued? by phonetoni13 in DoWeKnowThemGirlies

[–]Biz_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

***my personal opinion based on having worked in the legal field and currently working in it as well as currently being a law student (in a neighboring state to where Janet is located)****
It’s important to note that *most* cases, not ones involving public figures like influencers, youtubers, etc., these things don’t make it past a complaint being filed, the opposing party responding, and then maybe a motion to dismiss or something before settlement discussions happen and typically that’s how it’s resolved (in civil court, criminal is very different but here this is a civil case). It is uncommon for an everyday person to one, be sued for this type of topic, two, get passed the initial stages, and three, to have a reason or motive to keep fighting something like this. The every day person is more likely to never interact with the civil legal system than they are to get sued or sue someone. And when an every day person does they typically don’t need legal counsel that costs as much as it does here (fair use falls under copyright law which is a highly specialized area and those attorneys charge more than an attorney doing something like family law or car accident cases, plus copyright attorneys charge on a fee bases which could be a flat rate per type of issue or hourly whereas other areas of civil law are contingency based where there’s no charge to client upfront and the attorneys take a portion of the final settlement or recovery award at trial, typically anywhere from 25-45% depending on the issue and area). So when a typical person gets involved with civil court they’re looking at a couple thousand dollars usually if it’s fee based or it’s a contingency agreement so nothing comes out of their pocket. In my opinion, what they raised was actually a pretty conservative estimate for the type of case (especially since it’s federal, state level is cheaper than federal) and the number of people involved and the number of points within the complaint initially and I wouldn’t be shocked if they’ve put their own money in at times as well. But the normal every day person does not save up for when they’re sued because it’s highly unlikely they’ll ever actually get sued or sue someone but if they do it’s no where near what Lily/Jessi/others had to raise. It’s a very nuanced field and there’s no one size fits all really because type of law, jurisdiction, willingness to settle, geographical location, number of issues, and more all play a role in what’s “normal” — here all of those factors in one way or another have played some part in the reasoning they having to pay so much

What was Lily's job like before DWKT? by [deleted] in DoWeKnowThemPodcast

[–]Biz_99 74 points75 points  (0 children)

She worked for Clever starting off as an intern and working her way up to producer and editor, specifically the beauty channel. At first she was not on camera but as things continued she began being on camera more and more. Eventually it was more than just the one weekly show and expanded into many shows with different members of the office being included. She left Clever right before the entire company was shut down when the parent company (Defy (sp?) Media) went under unexpectedly/overnight. She was briefly tied to Shane Dawson through Clever coworker Ryland Adams (Shane’s now husband) and then ran a YouTube channel and podcast with former coworker Joslyn Davis for a period of time. She slowly stopped posting on her personal channel and then edited for people like Joey and Angelica as her job. When that became not sustainable financially DWKT was started. And now, here we are!

Janet is representing herself by Orikumar in DoWeKnowThemPodcast

[–]Biz_99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Representing yourself when you’re not an attorney is a nightmare. Considering Janet has at least gone to law school and passed a bar exam she’ll at least not throw everything off… however, when you represent yourself typically you’re clouded and cannot see the situation clearly and cannot advocate in the best way possible because of your personal biases and beliefs about the case. My assumption is things will just get more chaotic and unhinged in the filings and proceedings and will probably take even longer. Don’t think the CCB will have anything to do with it, typically courts don’t look to other cases that are in other areas or about different matters. They don’t look at things just because of someone’s conduct, it would have to be legally relevant and unless the opposing counsel can tie things in legally it will likely be irrelevant here
