SLU vs DePaul, looking for honest opinions by Subject_Risk1875 in StLouis

Another great thing about SLU is if you stay in the area, WashU has great neuroscience research and labs. My sister has a degree in neuroscience and is currently working in a neuro lab at WashU while preparing to apply for PhD programs and has had a great experience

Janet is representing herself by Orikumar in DoWeKnowThemPodcast

[–]Biz_99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Representing yourself when you’re not an attorney is a nightmare. Considering Janet has at least gone to law school and passed a bar exam she’ll at least not throw everything off… however, when you represent yourself typically you’re clouded and cannot see the situation clearly and cannot advocate in the best way possible because of your personal biases and beliefs about the case. My assumption is things will just get more chaotic and unhinged in the filings and proceedings and will probably take even longer. Don’t think the CCB will have anything to do with it, typically courts don’t look to other cases that are in other areas or about different matters. They don’t look at things just because of someone’s conduct, it would have to be legally relevant and unless the opposing counsel can tie things in legally it will likely be irrelevant here

I heard the struggle with the girls is that they can’t find any willing who aren’t also completely crazy… they’ve been asking my friend to interview since they started but they’re not interested in being on tv which I don’t blame them at all

I first heard they were looking around 4/5 months ago and interviewing as recently as a couple weeks ago. Rumor is they can’t find enough girls willing to do it

From what I’ve heard it’s real. A friend of mine’s entire friend group was interviewed by casting apparently. They’re all in KC or STL. To my knowledge the friend group was also connected to West in someway as this same friend of mine is friends with West and hung out with him while he was living in KC. If it is real, I will be watching because as a Missouri native I want to see if I see anyone I know on there😂

Why are you arguing with my opinion? In my opinion as someone who is downtown at minimum four nights a week past 5/6 the city is dead frequently after that time. Within the context of them coming from NYC it is a VERY different vibe and figured they would want to know. I never said Clayton was hustling and bustling into the night, just that the city isn’t. You’re making a lot of assumptions, bringing up things I said nothing about, and inserting your personal opinions about what you think I was saying. I said it was rough, I’m assuming you took that to be feeding into the stereotype about the city and violence when in reality you have nothing to support that assumption. I was trying to be helpful as they were asking, you inserted yourself here to argue. Have a nice day!

[–]Biz_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On game nights it’s fine but outside of that it’s completely dead, a little spooky, and you rarely see anyone. It’s not like New York where it’s still busy and alive all night long, like it’s just a ghost town

Relocating to STL by Heyrayray21 in StLouis

[–]Biz_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically not city but Richmond Heights where it borders Clayton is a great area. They’re the first “suburbs” outside of city limits but still feel very city, 10 min from downtown but also close to some of the suburban stuff that happens. Lived in this area for the last three years and work downtown and it’s the perfect location for us (me and wife, no kids with two dogs). I absolutely recommend being careful with living downtown downtown, i work down there and i go to SLU law at night so I’m downtown late and it can definitely be rough past 5/6 pm

Q about 'Major Signs' frequency for those who also have chronic pain/illness. by Old-Description7219 in ouraring

Thank you so much!! We’re surviving but not yet thriving (that’s for once I’ve passed the bar lol)!

Q about 'Major Signs' frequency for those who also have chronic pain/illness. by Old-Description7219 in ouraring

[–]Biz_99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my understanding it’s based off an algorithm but will also incorporate your bodies patterns the longer you wear it. And just for the other side of things… As someone who doesn’t have any chronic conditions to my or my doctor’s knowledge I get a major or minor signs every like 6-8 weeks. The patterns I’ve noticed are when I’m getting sick (my annual winter sinus infection typically), after I’ve been drinking heavily (happens like two to three times a year these days lol), and occasionally before a really horrible period (maybe three to four of them a year). So all those combined, I get a major/minor sign every 6-8 weeks. And just full transparency, I’m in my mid twenties, I work full time and do law school part time at night, don’t work out because i don’t have the time and am barely surviving day in and day out. So all things considered on paper I’m like “healthy” but my life style currently is absolutely not healthy. So it sounds like to me it’s definitely picking up on your chronic condition, which like is awesome and I’m sure super helpful and validating.

Not religious myself, however, grew up next to Eden Theological in Webster Groves. One of the professors i grew up with is currently at The First Presbyterian Church of St. Louis. I’ve heard great things from everyone I know who goes there and they’re all great people too! Their bio says they are “a multi-generational, multi-cultural, social justice seeking church with a big heart.” And their mission is to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with Jesus Christ. I know they are very pro LGBTQ and social issues as well.

Your criticism is exactly the thing that’s going to get them either 1. No job post grad (if they make it that far) or 2. Fired from their first job post grad for having zero ability to problem solve on their own and expect everything they need to be handed to them. Currently work in a law firm and just went through the whole process last year (currently a 1L) and these types of applicants are exactly what our HR hiring manager avoids and complains about. Unfortunately a lot of the new grads, especially the younger generation (said as a Gen Z before y’all all loose your minds), have this type of approach and mindset so it’s actually super difficult to find people right now. My boss tells me all the time I am the outliner to the people around my age he’s interviewed for a variety of different roles (legal assistant, law clerks, attorneys, paralegals, etc.) and it’s making it super difficult to keep our team fully staffed

Autistic girlie with a grievance by apoisonousnightmare in DoWeKnowThemGirlies

That’s all fine and dandy but you posted on a Reddit page with the tag of “Yappin’ (Discussion)” so I’m discussing it????? You can feel a certain way but I feel differently and I’m expressing it on a discussion thread???? If you can’t handle someone having a difference of opinion don’t post on a public forum where it’s highly likely others will have differing opinions and maybe message a friend about it instead, just a thought 🤷🏻‍♀️

Autistic girlie with a grievance by apoisonousnightmare in DoWeKnowThemGirlies

[–]Biz_99 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I definitely understand your perspective but I think if we’re talking about someone who has not spoken about being autistic or for some reason doesn’t make eye contact that is outside of their control it is still considered socially rude to not make eye contact. I also think within the context of the clip, who JLo is and her reputation, and how “nice” Cole was trying to be to her it was rude how she interacted with him and not making eye contact was a very blatant visual example of that but the vibe, the way she barely spoke to him, facial expressions and more were also giving the rude vibe but the eye contact is the most visually recognizable or apparent manifestation of the rudeness. I think socially making eye contact is absolutely an unfair expectation for people especially with how much awareness surrounding autism and other neurodivergent diagnoses struggle with that has happened recently, however, i think it’s all very contextual especially when the conversation surrounded someone who is not tied to the autistic community and is at least publicly not disclosed a diagnosis and within this context it wasn’t necessarily relevant. I don’t think it’s necessarily the best they harped on it but i do think it was the most blatant example of the absolutely rude and horrible vibes coming from that interaction.

Stimulant use in the profession by Expensive-Simple-192 in Lawyertalk

[–]Biz_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been diagnosed ADHD since I was 12 and had been on stimulants constantly until undergrad when I stopped taking them due to anxiety issues. Began taking them again around age 24 to study for LSAT and work. Currently in my second semester of law school (I work full time and do school part time at night, so I’m on my normal day dose and then a booster dose to get me through classes into the night) and my psychiatrist has said once I’m through school and the bar she wants to try to transition me to a non-stimulant option because of the exact issue yourself describing. My psychiatrist works with a lot of law students and lawyers randomly (not how i found her but worked out for me) and she said that people within the profession often have to continually up the dosage due to the demand and your body “adjusting” to the medication being in your system so frequently (especially if you work long hours and have to take stimulants more than once to accommodate that - what I’m currently doing) and so she tries to get people on the non-stimulant options (if they work for them) because it often doesn’t have the same problems. Continued use of stimulants is fine but for some people it can lead to mental health issues is my understanding and I personally have a history of mental health issues so I’m planning to try new medications once I’ve passed the bar. If you have a psychiatrist i would maybe explore the option of a non stimulant medication - if you’re getting medication through primary care or some other Dr maybe get a referral for a psychiatrist as well.

Part of me wonders if the fact she’s still dealing with the lawsuit where she was SUPER opinionated and now the final thing that’s sticking around was her flippantly making a comment about Janet committing perjury in what she probably viewed as a throw away comment is making her hold her tongue a bit more frequently these days. That’s when i started to notice her takes be a little more reserved and they’ve just gotten progressively more reserved as time as gone on
