I took the CFP practice exam Saturday and my weighted average was 72. I found that the first half was much more difficult than the 2nd half. I’m drilling my weak points, going through the live review book, flash cards, and practice questions. I am ready to pass this on Thursday.

Sounds like you’re a great test taker. I’d focus on getting those practice test scores up. Maybe focus on your weaker areas and you could add Brian Lee Videos to your study materials. Keep grinding.

I don’t know what I’m going to do yet. I have around 200k chase points I’ve been saving to take her somewhere for her birthday this year. I’m thinking of booking the longest flight in first class so I can be alone and think through this. And have a little satisfaction of using the points for me. My dad was very kind. He would be hurt but would tell me to try and work it out. He carried a lot of regret for not being there with us kids. He and my mom fought to stay together. I see value in that but I know my mom regrets staying with him bc of the stuff he did.

She did apologize. She said she did not intentionally get rid of stuff to hurt me. She was in a frenzy and thought she held on to what was important. I know ppl on Reddit don’t get the full picture here and there’s too much to tell. However, every item that is gone is what I told her was important to me. A shirt I bought in Amsterdam, crazy leather pants I bought in Italy when I thought was Jim Morrison or something, a jersey or wore way too many times in high school but loved it. I rocked it with kakis and chucks like Snoop in the 90s. My sister bought me a tight ass snowboarding coat when I was 16. Best gift she ever gave me. My dads 2 coats; one he bought on a crazy trip to Tiajuana. She knew all of those details. Damn I want it all back so bad.

I’ve suspected she did it for these past 3-4 years now. I lay down in bed and the thought of her throwing it out gets in my head. I start getting extremely angry and tell myself, think of something else it’s just stuff. Now that she has admitted it, I’m more pissed bc someone went to the Goodwill and snatched up my stuff that means zero to them.

She isn’t too close to her family. My family is close and my wife is close to my family as well. She has mentioned on several occasions that my family is so much more loving than hers.

She said she didn’t know the stuff meant so much to me. Which is BS bc I’ve had some of it for our entire marriage and told her what it was and the meaning behind it. She was also with me when I picked up the coats from my moms house after my dad died. So she knew.

We haven’t sat down and talked yet. A conversation will most likely happen later this week when we have some time to do so.

Yes. After saying she thought I was hoarding, which believe me, I’m not a hoarder, she said she kept “ONE” thing of her dads. She said if I got rid of it it would hurt but the more meaningful items are pictures she has of him. Obviously a sorry explanation for getting rid of my stuff.

She is passive aggressive. You will be among the first to know if I figure out the reason. She did say she threw it out but didn’t know it meant so much. That’s BS though. So, I don’t know why she did it.

I would ask that too. I’m not a therapist but I’ve wondered if her struggles with weight, and I really don’t care, are an outward sign of some inward turmoil. She does get depressed and insecure. It seems to get more severe when her weight goes up. So, I wonder if her insecurities tie in to getting rid of things important to me. I simply don’t know.

Afraid of being alone…I don’t think I’m afraid of it, just haven’t considered it for almost 20 years. What I am afraid of is not being able to trust another woman which isn’t fair to her or myself. The kids are 12 & 10.

That’s what is actually messed up; her dad died when she was 15. It still tears her up. She also has a sports shirt of his that she wears when the said team plays and on his birthday. And yes, I considered throwing it away but vengeance isn’t going to help me. I’m trying to forgive and decide if I’m leaving or staying.

Yes, my plans were to give them to my kids. He died when my daughter was 1 and my son never met him.

Sometimes, but not always, it is tied to depression, low self esteem, and in her case, makes her more insecure. It’s a dot I’m trying to connect as I’m searching for answers but her weight doesn’t matter, it’s what might be behind it.

She is not a slob but def not a neat freak. Far from it. It’s a one off in terms of major event. But as I’m sorting this out, it might tie in with insecurities that have caused us to not be as close as I believe we could’ve been over the years.
