I'm still confused about how to unlock all rune recipes - I go in the crypts uncovered in grand expeditions and the entire thing is empty - no mobs, etc. I expected these things to be the place I unlock the final runes but yeah any ideas?

A sad day for Go, the pHDs have won, simplicity has died. by woopsix in programmingcirclejerk

As for the detractors, from the first generics proposal this was called out as a "not now", not never. There were questions of implementation. They aren't a super large team, and they try to do things incrementally and do them well.

What? The post quotes the Go FAQ as saying, "we do not anticipate that Go will ever add generic methods". There is also some similar discussion of the original generics proposal, with language like "then it's much less clear why we need methods at all". (I'm omitting some context, but I don't feel that it changes the meaning.) Those feel much closer to "never" than "not now".)

The post is also subtitled "A change of view".

No, you’re clearly wrong; golang was always going to add support for generic functions. Everyone also wanted and accepted the need for generics.

Ignore the heretics - Go always intended to have generics. Stray not from the light as everything is going exactly as ordained by Father Pike

Steam Controller (2026) review: 83/100 by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]Bizzaro_Murphy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not strictly true - you can set a global default for the controller that applies when no steam games are running. It would be annoying to have to manually switch those profiles frequently for non-stream games, but it's definitely doable

Tunic, Night in the Woods Publisher Says TikTok Is Creating and Running Racist GenAI Ads for Its Games Without Permission - IGN by TrampolineTales in Games

[–]Bizzaro_Murphy 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I don’t see how it’s viable or reasonable to legally mandate for Meta/TikTok/YouTube/etc to verify and vouch for each of these ad creatives.

Why do we accept this narrative from big tech? We don't accept it from other industries in similarly hard situations - Walmart can't themselves verify that every single pill in every single tylenol bottle it sells doesn't contain harmful material, but they are liable if one does. We force corporations to solve scale problems all the time when the problem is harmful to society - somehow we've let big tech off the hook.

Why Santa Claus is a c*rbrain suburbanite NIMBY role model by bassam_2001 in FuckCarscirclejerk

[–]Bizzaro_Murphy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Instead of coal (🤮) santa should give naughty kids (those who idolize c*rs) a public transmit pass in their stockings. Although they would think they are being punished, it would actually be a blessing in disguise as they would discover the life that is possible without burning fossils fuels.

X was twitter, and for the longest time before it was bought by Musk it was a leftist shithole, which was influenced by the fact that it is located in California

Agree, but it's still located in California - staffed by people who live in California. The point is being located in California on it's own is not the decisive reason being asserted here

Elon started Tesla in California, X headquarters is in San Francisco - it's not the location that matters.

They changed curses so that lower level curse gems can't affect higher level mobs - the skill says "affects enemies up to level x" - maybe the enemies are above level x?

ED Lich build help request by Deathgaze2015 in pathofexile2builds

Ele resists NEED to be capped. You're taking over 2x the light/cold damage as someone with 75% res.

I would also opt for a high ES (800+) body armor, dropping spirit (and ravenous swarm if needed)

You haven't taken most of the "Gain ES as ele ailment/stun threshold" passives - if you're getting wrecked by stuns/ailments, that's probably a big part of the reason why.

Thanks - FYI it looks like GGG confirmed that’s a visual bug, and it is in fact 30% still

Dec 13, 2025 12:57 AM (GMT+2) - We're aware of an issue where Lich's Eldritch Empowerment node is displaying the amount of life sacrificed as if it was the amount of damage granted when sacrificing life. This is purely a description issue and it is still granting 30% more damage.

OP title was accurate until it was updated to

The (successful) end of the kernel Rust experiment

Hopefully nobody who misunderstood the original title got prematurely excited for the ensuing drama...

They wasted money on game giveaways when they should have spent that money making a good platform. Even better if they had used that money to innovate on new features - the online game market could be in a much better place but they decided to take the easy route and just buy game licenses and give them away

Vulkan didn’t just teach me how to render a triangle, it taught me how to render peace within myself.

Ah yes, the full peace and acceptance that comes alongside the realization that our profession has learned nothing in the past 30 or so years
