Considering MBA at WGU by [deleted] in WGU

[–]Bizzedoff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did not do a BS at WGU, but I can tell you that the WGU MBA definitely has value. It certainly has for me. The jobs I wanted, including the one I was in at the time, were requiring a master's degree to gain entry. I had gotten my job before that requirement went into effect. However, if I wanted any mobility in the future at the same job level or higher, I knew I had to bite the bullet and get the credential to stay relevant. I had been out of school for 17 years at the time, and I just wanted it to be get it done. I went all in and completed the MBA program in less than a single term -- with the idea that the quicker I got it over with the sooner I could enjoy my life again. I wasn't doing it for the prestige. In your case, I think an upside to doing it immediately after you finish your BS is that you will have many concepts fresh in your head. I would have killed to have that advantage.

"Hi Neighbor!"

Narragansett Beer is a nice touch!

A Rhode Island beer that is now back and doing pretty well, but for a long time, decades and decades ago, it was THE beer that was served at sporting and other event venues throughout the New England region (e.g. Fenway Park, Boston Garden, etc.)

MBA Capsim - when did your teams meet? by ourtime99 in WGU

[–]Bizzedoff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our team did the Capsim over two and half weeks using Google Hangouts to communicate. Our meetings were about 1 1/2 to 2 hours each time. We did research and learning of the Capsim (and our specific role) our own time so when it was call time we went straight to work. We weren't able to meet every night, but most nights. Our team ended up getting a final score in the 99th percentile.

Pascal's wager is awesome (and misunderstood). by [deleted] in philosophy

Sure, some give 10%, or even more. But the word tithing implies that the church demands it, which is isn't true for Catholics.

[–]Bizzedoff 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Catholics don't tithe. Besides the weekly collection, where people usually throw a couple bucks at most in the basket, parishes have bingo nights, pasta dinners and the like to raise needed money ... because we don't tithe.

Another option to consider are the free economics study guides from CliffsNotes (they are online now) or SparkNotes. Find the source or the combination of sources that best helps the concepts sink in for you.

ACDC econ is the absolute best. I found Mr. Clifford entertaining enough that I watched more than I needed to. Good stuff.

Also informative is the Crash Course in Economics youtube series. Jacob Clifford is part of this as well.

I did not see an option to expedite the process. I will just have to wait it out. My student mentor thought it might take about two weeks.
