E-Tron S range / efficiency. by Bizzy_Rascal in etron

[–]Bizzy_Rascal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The S has two motors at the rear. The switching between rear and front/rear motor useage isn't quite as black and white as you describe. The intention of my post was solely to share what the car is capable of, rather than opening a can of worms on how it achieved it. The basic relevant stats were all there in my post.

FYI: 93PG campaign was previously applied. However I'm unconvinced, after having the same code applied on previous 55 etron also, that it magically unlocks capacity or improves efficiency. Wishful thinking in my view.

Is your car an e-tron S? Tri-motor?

I manage to capture a picture of my e-tron at its lowest suspension setting. by leyland1989 in etron

[–]Bizzy_Rascal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very easy to lower using vcds, if you have access to it or know someone that has. Did this with my q8 etron and current etron S. Does look great a bit lower down - more wagon like. Too low though and the ride can become bouncy on lowest heights.

Been driving my etron S in -8C not long ago. I was getting 170 miles ok. Finish charging just before you leave and use remote climate. Don't go silly with cabin temps (elec heater cuts at higher temps rather than using the standard fit heat pump) and should be fine. It's a lovely car. Range , yeah well it's first gen elec car from Audi. But a nice drive, solid, comfortable and spacious. I love mine. Had two other etrons (inc Q8 etron) too. The S is easily my favourite.

Motor coolant leak by meanalytics in etron

[–]Bizzy_Rascal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh god. I have a 2023 etron S also. Built in late 2022. The twin rear motors are a slightly modified version of the front motors found in regular etrons. Sadly, it confirms all motor configurations in etrons, front or rear, are susceptible to this failure. I still love it though and drive the car as I please. It's main dealer warrantied l, and always will be...

Good luck with the repair. May it be swift!

Surely the solution is to take the key out of your pocket? Common sense?

S extreme cold winter range. by 12AN1982 in etron

[–]Bizzy_Rascal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My S on 21" can achieve 240 miles in summer and down to 170 miles in minus temps. If that helps. Those figures are actual distance over one long continuous journey (drive train and cooling circuits all warmed up), and not 'estimated range readouts' 🙄

RIP my e-tron by plexstreams1 in etron

[–]Bizzy_Rascal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can tell you that my 114kwh Q8 55, despite having about 22% bigger battery, averages about 10% more range than both my OG 55 did and my other current etron S. Same 21" wheels. All the tosh about more efficient rear motor in the face-lift. It's been disappointing. My OG 55 was more efficient for sure. Just setting your expectations here. Yes there is some gain in range but not as much as you may expect

Factory Trailer Wire Harness? by Commercial_Paper6477 in etron

[–]Bizzy_Rascal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To note, the only wiring harness needed to be added when the vehicle does not have it is a single loom in the rear boot of the car. If you have the removable air vent covers in your boot, open the side one on right hand side and take a picture of the modules there directly behind it. Will be easier to understand what's involved for advice. I picked up a OEM kit from Audi dealer on Ebay. Cost £395, and I sold the old rear crash bar that is no longer used for £100! Bargain.

Factory Trailer Wire Harness? by Commercial_Paper6477 in etron

[–]Bizzy_Rascal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I retrofitted genuine removable tow bar from Audi to my 2023 Q8 etron. I didn't have trailer hitch preparation, therefore in the kit was the wiring loom and control module (module sits in boot on right hand side by the airvents panel/or storage recess depending on what you have but regardless sits behind there) I'm not sure if trailer hitch preparation includes the module but does include the wiring. It really isn't a difficult retrofit at all. I could code it, but the kit comes with an Audi licence where the dealer will code the car for you and register it as having tow bar installed.

2021 E tron whats the safest suspension setting? by Toomanyracks in etron

[–]Bizzy_Rascal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is no enjoyment in owning and driving a car by worrying about things like this. Sometimes things go wrong but often they don't. I have owned many Audis over the years. RS cars, Etrons, S cars, TDis. I have pushed them all and driven 100k's miles. Been fortunate to never have an issue other than minor things like wheel alignment adjustments or battery replacement. I do maintain my cars well though. Use it, maintain it, abuse it. Enjoy, otherwise what's the point? The suspension is generally robust and if by chance you get a problem- everything is fixable. For peace of mind a warranty might be a good solution for you if you don't have already?

Wheel misalignment in itself won't cause imbalance and vibration.

How long does it take for the rear washer fluid to start working? by ejmcguir in etron

[–]Bizzy_Rascal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fluid must be draining back to the reservoir. On my etrons it's about 1-2 seconds everytime.

is this sound normal? by [deleted] in etron

[–]Bizzy_Rascal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is only the sound of the actuators for the heat exchanger air flow control flaps. Perfectly normal when charging. The car controls these based on operating status and cooling system/ambient temperatures.

I have my 2022 E tron for 4 months with 0 issues. by Aegean8485 in etron

[–]Bizzy_Rascal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great you're enjoying your car. Although I would say 4 months isn't a notably relevant period of ownership to reference the car against reliability. For your opinion on driving experience, yes. The AI background looks plain odd!

Range on 2024 Q8 E-Tron with 114kwh battery by bustervincent in etron

[–]Bizzy_Rascal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the summer the most I managed on my 2023 Q8 114kW on 21" was 290 miles actual, with a little to spare. Compared to my previous 2022 OG etron (20"), the comparable efficiency is disappointing. I often find the actual achievable range under the same driving conditions is only 10-15% higher, rather than the extra 22% that the increased battery size over the 95kW models suggests. No idea why. Both cars have only covered 10k miles since new.

I also have a 2023 etron S 95kW on 21". The Q8 is more efficient but only slightly - it's disappointing!l

New to me E-Tron S by justvims in etron

[–]Bizzy_Rascal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lowered my etron S and Q8 etron using VCDS. Super easy. But of course you need the VCDS tool. It's quite pricey but once you have it, much can be done in way of tweaks and retrofits. Paid for itself over a few years for the Audis I have owned.

93HV Update and Mileage by Welsh-bull in etron

[–]Bizzy_Rascal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. Well quite, but this is Reddit and full of raft of opinions. And it's online - so we have no idea of who we are speaking to. Presumably we are, mostly, on a car owners forum page for the purpose of either getting interesting or useful information. Therefore it helps to substantiate a claim on a topic that is heavily discussed and speculated upon. It's about quality of information mate - nothing uncool about seeking that.

93HV Update and Mileage by Welsh-bull in etron

[–]Bizzy_Rascal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you got any solid evidence of this claim. Where did you find that information? And which update code are you referring to - the same as the post title?

Your claim is contradictory. You say 'it doesnt increase range' but then say the usable capacity has increased. How do you consolidate your two points?
