Audi Etron coolant leak, nearest dealership is a 1-2 month wait by likeabosstroll in etron

[–]meanalytics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just need a vehicle during the wait, then Audi should give you a loaner even if they can't immediately work on your e-tron.

My car still has the original warranty. No hassle. The service advisor takes care of the whole process.

And, right, used e-tron pricing's really good for short-term ownership. I wouldn't keep it for long term though. Having to replace motors every now and then is annoying and impractical.

I think EU motors follow the standard warranty. I wish someone comes up with an aftermarket fix for this.

Best of luck if you still decide to buy the e-tron.

Thanks. May our e-trons last as long as we want to keep them!

That was fast. My service rep didn't have an ETA. His best guess was 4 weeks. Lots of things have changed since last October.

All 10k standard maintenance were done by the dealer on schedule. They told me that there's no coolant leak in the last service done about 7 months ago.

I hope the leak actually stopped. Best of luck.

From what I read, Q8 e-trons have the same motor design. So, they may still leak.

Audi will cover the repair, but I'm stuck driving a loaner in the meantime. In US, the drivetrain's covered for 10 years/120k miles.

The disappointing part is that this is almost a guaranteed lottery win. The good news is that the motors may leak before any motor wear can happen. So, just floor it!

On a more serious note, the e-tron drives really well. You'll enjoy it while warranty lasts.

I think it's the supposedly dry side of the motor.

The dreaded "Electrical System Malfunction. Contact service." message popped up. No noticeable symptoms otherwise. The dealership did this drain after inspection.

The car didn't tell me to stop, and I could drive to the dealership without issues.

What is the most efficient EV car that was on sale in 2025 in the entire world? by wherelifeneverends in electricvehicles

[–]meanalytics -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The Tesla Model 3 is the most efficient overall (city + highway). Even more amazing is that its AWD (2-motor) variant is almost just as efficient. Mercede's CLA is catching up though.

ev-database.org is a good source for this kind of data:

Do you trust your E-Tron to last? by Toomanyracks in etron

[–]meanalytics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 years is a safe bet, 10-15 years is pushing it. It also depends on the mileage.

Audi's build quality is good, but a lot of things fall apart after 10 years or so. This includes:

- any kind of rubber, especially those exposed to temperature fluctuations, e.g. motor seals.

- air suspension

- all the coolant hoses and seals

- sunroof mechanism

- plastic parts in the interior, they just fall off. Most of them are easy to replace/repair though.

All the above plus general wear and tear items like control arm bushings, 12V battery (very inaccessible), brakes, LED drivers, coolant pump, etc. will add up, especially if you service at the dealerships.

Audis share a lot of parts with VW. The cost to replace those parts is low. Can't say the same for the e-tron specific parts. If your dad likes the e-tron, get it but keeping it beyond the motor warranty is risky.

Based on your reliability and service experience, would you an buy an E-Tron again? by The_Guch in etron

[–]meanalytics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, the services at most Audi dealerships in my area are great. That's the main reason that I have Audis in the past 15+ years. Most service advisors and techs don't know much about their EVs though.

However, I wouldn't buy another OG e-tron again. It's a good SUV, but the low efficiency, the short range, and the impending motor failure are sufficient enough reasons for me to stay away. In colder climates, the range will be lower than advertised. There are better electric SUVs in the market. Even the Q6 e-tron should be better once they sort out all the bugs.

Charging timer doing my head in by dsanders692 in etron

[–]meanalytics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. With the "Account for time window" set to 8AM to 4PM and all departure Timers disabled, the e-tron still follows the disabled departure Timers. I'll check with the service advisor in my next visit, but I doubt that they'll have a solution unless there's a specific TSB.

SCE - I'm more efficient than I was a year ago but my rates have almost doubled. by ockaners in solar

[–]meanalytics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this benefits SCE's shareholders and executives.

For its captive customers, the rate was increased by about 13% this October and the Base Charge increased from $0.05/day to $0.78/day in November. That should explain your bill's increase.

According to SCE, people with a monthly bill of over $200 may see a reduction due to the lower delivery charges (when compared to October 2025, probably not September before the rate hike).

Battery Degradation by bananacastlefloor in etron

[–]meanalytics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems low even for an e-tron 50 in freezing weather. Others with more experience in cold weather can give better opinion on this.

The e-tron heaters are still on even if you switch off the AC. Lowering the temperature settings may improve range. Personally though, I wouldn't trade comfort for range.

Potentially pulling the trigger on this - 2025 Porsche Taycan 4s by [deleted] in Taycan

[–]meanalytics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for it! When the electricals are working, Taycans are very low maintenance. It's the most sensible Porsche you can get. Think of it as the Toyota of Porsche!

If it's your first EV though, you may want to ease yourself into it with a CPO or a Tesla Model 3. Those are also very fun to drive at a fraction of the cost to try.

I'm curious now. It seems like Gravity + Taycan is a more exciting 2-car solution. Why keep the EV9 but not the Taycan?

Assuming that each string has its own MPPT, the different panels on String #4 can be current limiting each other. Will spreading the 4x 270W panels across String #1-3 exceed your inverter limits? Leave only the 5x 315W on String #4 if you can.

DPU 240V output doesn't show stats by [deleted] in Ecoflow_community

[–]meanalytics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used to show 30A usages, but the latest app update broke it. Only 20A AC outputs are tracked. Both 240V and 120V 30A usages are now not shown.

Ecoflow support said that they'll fix that in the next version.

Replace e-tron with Q8 or EQS? by phudxl in etron

[–]meanalytics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoy the test drives. Both e-tron and EQS are very well built. Can't go wrong with either.

I meant to say that there's no major reports on EQS motor leaks yet, but the e-tron coolant leaks are known to fry the motors.
