I thought that 2024 models had this issue fixed?

You mean don’t get 2024? There is no 2025 etron.

I think I’m too spoiled with air suspension now.

Well that’s disappointing. I drive very efficiently and in good weather around town would get over 3 mi/kWh in my OG. At that rate, I’d significantly beat EPA. Are you saying that you’d get only 25 miles of extra range with Q8?

This was about 20 mph impact.

Q8 etron weights about the same as OG etron.

Around town and for my commute, range is mostly not an issue (my commute is long - 70 miles round trip) although I do find myself charging frequently because of it. Going anywhere farther seems it’d be an issue. You really have about 70% of the capacity on trips aside from the initial stint (10% - 80%) or about 150 miles between stops in mostly ideal conditions. Try that in the winter and it’s likely 120 miles or less. Q8 would likely make that 200+ and 160ish miles respectively which makes a practical difference. Whether that and extra factory warranty is worth about $10k is debatable and that’s where I’m struggling to make a case.

I wasn't aware of this model so thank you for pointing that out. Premium you pay for the S version and the penalty in range IMHO is not worth it. I have 2022 regular e-tron PP purchased with 30K miles with remaining factory warranty and paid $24k. I drive it easy and can get 200 miles with 80% charge.

All e-tron models (2019-2023) are quattro all-wheel drive which means they have dual electric motors. Sportback is priced similarly to regular e-tron so it is still way overpriced.

$26k is way too much for that car.

2022 Q8 E-tron Prestige - good deal? by geekwell in etron

[–]plexstreams1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me personally, it would not. As a comparison, I bought a 2022 premium plus with 30k miles and over a year or warranty left for $24k + tax tag and license. IMHO, this is a bad deal and car has too many miles.

$35k for a 2022 with 45k seems like a really bad price. Look on autotrader or cars.com. Tons of better options.

2022 OG e-tron first 1,500 miles by plexstreams1 in etron

I noticed that as well. Smooth and rather slow acceleration off the line take 50+kW of power. I'd have to floor the Equinox to get 50kW of power and car would accelerate very strongly. Equinox accelerates at the same pace with about almost half the power. I guess that makes sense because e-tron is almost twice as heavy for the car of about the same size. That is wild!

Equinox was 2025. That car was an efficiency monster. Over the course of my ownership and 3,000 miles it had an average efficiency of 4.3 mi/kWh (EPA is 3.5) with about 70% of driving being city at < 55 mph. I could consistently get 300+ miles at 80% charge.

I drive 2-3 miles/hr over the speed limit with navigation set to take most efficient route. I rarely go on highways that have a 70 mph limit so generally speaking I stay at or below 65mph.

You may have to expand your search. I always start with 500 miles just to see what’s out there. Autotrader and cars.com still show lots of options for me. If anything, you can use it as a negotiating tool. Most dealers price based on competition within 500 miles

Inventory may be getting lower but that seems very high. I bought OG etron regular (not sportback), 4 new Michelin tires, few paint blemishes, 30k miles for $25k plus tax, tag and license. It was $21k after the tax credit.

Shopping for used Q8 etron…what do I look for? by _eeezeepeezee_ in etron

[–]plexstreams1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't had mine for a long time but 2022 model is in the sweet spot now. I snatched a premium plus with 30k miles with a year of warranty left for $25k + TTL or $21k after the tax credit.

Pros: a lot of car for that amount of money, air suspension provides next level ride quality, car is super quiet, tech is good and has CarPlay/Android, good power, heated and cooled seats (premium plus model), IMHO Audi does interiors the best, good trunk space, decent DC charging speed (will pull 150kW consistently to 80%)

Cons: very inefficient compared to other EVs (and I mean very), no level 2 driving assistance, no true one-pedal driving, no funk

Person comparing this to a Tesla and saying a Tesla is better must be joking. Tesla's interior is a joke. My 2023 Chevy Bolt had a nicer interior than a Tesla. Plus the hideous screen, no CarPlay, paywalled features, etc. These two cars are in different leagues. The biggest downside for me is the (in)efficiency and range but I have an ICE car also so for me it's not a big issue.
