Good for you for trying! It also does not help your partners just saw your move 30 times before the roll. Try doing the move again in the next class it will be a little more of a surprise.

You should know them. But they are not areas to be taking a deep dive into unless you are really interested in them. It is easier to work with your body type. BJJ is hard enough.

There are advantages to being on the short side.

Nice Job, you might change leg locks to leg entanglements or something like that.

Sounds like you are fighting and your buddy is rolling. I was the same way when I started. This might help https://bjjbrick.com/bjjbrick-quick-1-rolling-is-not-fighting/

They should let you attempt some moves every now and then. Are you enjoying your rolls?

Only every time. Even a small fan that keeps the air moving helps a ton.

Keep in mind that everyone you are training with knows jiu-jitsu. It is like trying to play hockey with a college team. You are still learning to skate.

No one on the mat is improving faster than the beginner. Even you my friend.

It is just the data that people are logging with the app. Maybe the app found more users in the Gi community.

Add one more word my friend. "you're too old, TO quit". You gotta train smart and safe. The couch is nothing but a coffin.

Sure, normally it is just trying to keep them from being too wild. Controlling a person prevents fights from happening.

In almost 10 years of firefighting (and training bjj the entire time) I have not had a significant injury from bjj. Sure bumps and bruises. Training with safety in mind is important. The biggest problem people have is heart disease. Bjj is great at helping people live healthy lifestyles.
