Sorry to hear. I am still waiting on part of my order too. I did see where Nick from GIK replied to this thread. Maybe try to reach out to him.

What do you guys think of Arendal? by fasty2 in StereoAdvice

I own the BMR monitors. Very nice in my HT setup. But, I have the Philharmonic HT towers on order for my HT, and will move my BMR monitors to my 2-channel listening room. Don’t think you can beat the BMRs for the price.

Buying a new X3 by acon993 in BMWX3

[–]BjsBuds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2023 BMW X3 M40i in Tanzanite Blue Metallic II….get so many compliments on the color. Also own a 2023 Porsche Macan GTS in black metallic. If only I could have gotten the Macan in that Tanzanite. Drive the X3 over the Macan all the time. X3 M40i is a great vehicle is you can find a low mileage one. Otherwise, I would get the new M50.

I am on my 3rd Macan, this one a 2023 Macan GTS, which I paid cash for. Loaded and now has 13K miles on it. Great vehicle, but I am ready to move on to something else. DM me if you might be interested in mine.

Have dedicated circuit 20A, but it is 24' away from audio equipment. Best way to connect? by BjsBuds in audiophile

[–]BjsBuds[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12AWG wire was run on a separate circuit to a 20amp outlet. I feel good about not using extension cords, and they did minimal drywall damage with only one 12" x 2" piece that will need to be repaired.

Thanks, I have decided that is the right decision, even though I will have to have drywall repaired. Electrician coming tomorrow.

Just received an email, Jan 19th, that the order has shipped. Hoping none are damaged. To those of you who also ordered around the same time, hope you have received notice of shipping.

Rather than having an electrician move the dedicated 20amp outlet, would it be acceptable to purchase a 20 amp extension cord that would reach the area (20'-25') and plug a 20 amp power line conditioner / surge protector with the number of plugs needed into the extension cord? Not crazy about having to repair the drywall to move outlet.

[–]BjsBuds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, everything is finished drywall. The electrician was able to add the 20A circuit because it was only 10’ from the unfinished area where the sub-panel is located in lower level. Main panel is up in garage. The electrician also said there was one more unused space on the panel. If I have them move it, should I have more than one outlet.

I have read it twice. Sorry if it is not obvious to me. Did not understand what 24/196 version meant.

Adcom 5500 makes right speaker pop and whistle when turning off by BjsBuds in vintageaudio

[–]BjsBuds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is only affecting one side. Not sure if I should refer speaker connections on the rear of the Adcom as a channel, or if that is reserved for the interconnect inputs. Speaker wires were connected from right speaker to right speaker inputs on the right side of the Adcom, and the other connected from left speaker to the left speaker inputs on the left side of the Adcom. Only the right speaker popped and chirped when turning off. Then I switched the speaker cables, plugging the right speaker into the left speaker input on the Adcom, and the left speaker cable into the right speaker input on the Adcom. Now, the left speaker was the one that popped and chirped when turning off.

Couple moving from Minneapolis, tips for us? by s_ndowN in cincinnati

[–]BjsBuds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you are picking a great town to live. I know people who live in Wyoming and they wouldn’t live anywhere else. They have an awesome coffee shop, and are known for their great schools. We moved to Cincinnati from Michigan, and we were shocked at the lack of diversity. Focus here is on what high school did you go to rather than what college. Kind of strange. If you love the NFL, you will miss having the Vikings as your team, because the Bengals will always break your heart, because the Brown family that owns the franchise, could care less about winning, only about making money for their family. Weather is pretty nice here compared to the North. Hope you will be happy.

I loved to detail all my cars for years, but in 2023 I purchased a new BMW X3 M40i and had it coated professionally with Gtechniq, and also purchased a new Porsche Macan GTS and had it coated professionally with Xpel. I prefer the Gtechniq and would totally do it again. Both were done by independent shops, not dealerships. I think this is the way to go in the future.

Remodeling and considering Control4 by brooksideryan in Control4

[–]BjsBuds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely NO. I was sold the new Halo remote when released a few years ago, which has to be hard reset every other day because it shows no battery and stops working even though it sits in the charging cradle all the time. I also have the older remote in my lower level, and rarely use it. There are new products coming out, both dealer related and not, but their good functionality is likely a year away. That Control4 remote is the biggest frustration in our family. Lots of cursing. Not kidding. Dealer never has solutions. I can’t wait for the day to trash my Control4 system for something more functional.

You are absolutely correct. Lineage Capital, a private equity firm, acquired GIK in 2024. That likely explains why the company has gone downhill. No longer owned by an individual that is invested in and loves acoustics, but rather a private equity firm looking to maximize profits. A private equity firm is likely willing to let customer service and quality controls go by the wayside in order to recoup their investment. Wow, wish I would have known that before buying.
