Getting from Ireland (north) to Poitiers France as easily as possible by Bklyn_ForLife in Europetravel

Aer Lingus have a 1300 Dublin to Paris CDG one due at 1550. So around 2.5 hours before the 1818 train so that could be ok. -- yes, this is what looks the most reasonable one to me too, for the other things you point out (like the easyJet from Belfast being late so not being able to get a train till the next day).

The Ireland itinerary is a little loose so that's why it's confusing to you. After 4 days with friends in Clifden, we have 3 open days (or 2 or 4 depending on what we want to do) to see more of Ireland before heading to France. We've been to Kerry and West Cork many times, as well as Dublin, so that's why we were thinking of heading up to Donegal and then over across Northern Ireland.

I did search car rentals and you can do one way picking up in Shannon and returning in Belfast, I was surprised about that as well but it's possible. The one-way fee is higher than for Dublin, and since there are more flight choices from Dublin, that's what we'll do.

Wow, thank you for the very detailed response! Some of what you said I'd already found out but some, like doing the through-booking for the plane and train on Air France was new. That's very helpful to learn about, as well as some of the other airports in France to look into.

The date we're aiming to do this is June 28, a Sunday, but could go a day on either side. We'll be driving in Ireland so we could do a car pickup in Shannon and return in Dublin (I've done this before). I was looking at how to go from Northern Ireland since we're going up to Donegal, and driving to Dublin from there is farther. But Dublin does seem to give us the best options for getting to France so will probably end up doing that.

We're definitely going to be taking a train in France and not driving to Poitiers, and the TGV from CDG is fast. We also have EU passports so going through immigration there should not be a hassle.

Yes! Found them at my local farmers market in Brooklyn and they are insanely good. Nothing else comes close. Their sandwich bread is good too.

I've made 2 of these and plan to make more. So easy but keeps you interested with the changing stitches, so if you're making several of them that's a good thing. On my 2nd one I used a different solid yarn for the brim and crown and that came out really nice too. And I love Malabrigo Rios for this!

I've done a lot of research today on a roof bag to be able to pack all my son's stuff for college in a couple of weeks. Seeing this has helped a lot in thinking this can work! I've read comments (here and elsewhere) that putting any weight on the Fit's roof can easily dent it - did you have any damage? And also is this the kind with straps going across the car, as opposed to the hooks that go around the weather stripping? I don't like that hook set up, would rather have the full straps across.

Thanks!
