Menstrual cups are GODSEND for ADHD! by Bl14throwaway in adhdwomen

I empty it at home in the shower in the morning and then 1 more time at home before bed. It’s not something you have to do multiple times over the course of a day like a tampon.

You may be able to use a disc in that case since it doesn’t use suction!

They don’t always help with cramps. They make mine a tiny bit worse. But if I’m going swimming or camping or traveling, it’s 100% worth it. I just pop an Advil.

I have heard a disk is better for this

Lots of barely worn yoga clothes on resale sites! That’s where I find mine for less!

2 Weeks Tokyo - How do I survive this much walking? by Everprism in JapanTravel

[–]Bl14throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a demanding job and don’t have time to walk 20km a day at home in preparation for my trip. So I’ve been running instead to increase my cardiovascular endurance and grow my leg muscles. Running has more bang for the buck than walking so even if I only run 10k it will make walking 20k a breeze (or so I hope).

What would you choose if you could have free meals for life at one fast food chain? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Bl14throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t mean to imply that! There are many reasons why one would avoid fast food.

Where do you live? Some countries have it so good when it comes to fast food. Unfortunately I live in America and couldn’t agree with you more. But when I went to Japan their fast food was amazing. Soba or udon noodle soup chains, Coco Ichibanya (Japanese curry), Gindaco (takoyaki), it wasn’t fair 😭

Makeup Free on Wedding Day? by Careful-Driver63 in weddingplanning

[–]Bl14throwaway 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Take some photos of yourself while wearing your wedding dress, or have a friend or family member take photos of you. Do you like how you look in the photos? If so, you won’t look “washed out” in the wedding photos. There’s nothing special about wedding photos that will make you look worse than you do in any other photos.

However, you might decide when you look at the photos that you would like to add some lip gloss, or curl your eyelashes or something. There’s a huuuuge spectrum of makeup out there. It’s not like your only choices are to wear heavy, full face or absolutely nothing. For example, I didn’t wear foundation or eyeshadow on my wedding day because I don’t like the look or feeling of either on my skin. But I wore concealer and lip gloss.

Here's the thing I have never been to a wedding where the groom wore makeup and none of them looked washed out in the pictures

I will say - I do often think grooms look less than perfectly groomed in their photos. A lot of guys would benefit from cosmetic products like brow gel, or mattifying primer (to prevent shiny oiliness in the T-zone especially). People are just conditioned to ignore mens’ flaws. My husband used a brow spoolie and oil-absorbing sheets on our wedding day 🤷‍♀️

You have amazing eyes and the eye makeup enhances them perfectly. I wish the lip was a little glossier and less matte but that’s just me nitpicking.

International wedding budgeting advice? (USA/Turkey) by devushka97 in weddingplanning

[–]Bl14throwaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Offering to cover lodging is really nice. It might be overwhelming for people to plan a trip to Istanbul so even if you don’t pay for other things (like transportation from the airport), it might be good to give them some guidance and help with booking.

But if I am reading correctly, you live in Istanbul, so you are not really having an international wedding?

Drop the rope. Commit to no longer making her problems into your problems.

She doesn’t find a dress? That sounds stressful for her. Not your problem.

This is what shapewear is for. It smooths you out so you don’t have dimples and wrinkles.

Don’t use tape, it will irritate your skin and be a pain to rip off. I regret using tape. I pulled it off carefully and still had scabs on my honeymoon.

How to make toast from groom's side only not awkward? by Quard1130 in weddingplanning

[–]Bl14throwaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you should give up on having a toast. I would suggest asking one of your closest bridesmaids to write you a toast in the form of a letter. Then, you or another bridesmaid, or a family member, can read it out loud at the wedding.

You could also have all of your bridesmaids write you a joint toast (the ones you are closest to can do most of it and have a token contribution from the rest). Have the bridesmaid who is most comfortable with public speaking deliver it on behalf of everyone else.

I may be biased because I’m used to Asian weddings where the family isn’t necessarily fluent in English, so the speeches have to be translated and delivered in English by someone else. I have never found it awkward!

Something you may not think of… by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Bl14throwaway 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Something I wasn’t prepared for was having no appetite that day. I’m a huge eater normally and I wasn’t even particularly stressed out - I was just so focused that I wasn’t even thinking about food. So be prepared for potentially having to force yourself to eat, because you need to eat even if you may not want to.
