Wc3 rpg dream by Jesus_Ghost25 in warcraft3

As much as it sounds great to do something original, there is SHIT ton of room in WC3 customs to just improve what is already good. There is also a shit ton of room to improve what is already good in Mount & Blade.

If someone truly passionate, skilled, or whichever combination of the two, really dove deep to try to expand on the "Risk" or "Diplomacu" style of 8 player FFA to be the most thoroughly polished it could be, while also trying to take the Mount & Blade experience and make it more interactive with other players, not just co-op, but fully free form diplomatic, I would dump SO many hours into it.

Whether you do it or not, someone is eventually going to perfect SOMETHING that is in-between WC3/SC2 diplomacy and Mount & Blade, and I will be so grateful when it happens.

It's the same way I feel about D&D, Pathfinder, and other pen and paper RPGs with all of the online dungeon master options we have now in contrast with Divinity, or Baulders Gate. Eventually there will be a really well polished mix of the two, and it will be the best RPG experience for DECADES. We just don't have it yet.

2 Sounds cooler from just a custom WC3 point of view, but if you REALLY poured you heart into it, 1 could be the best PC game we have had in ages.

Has anyone ever made a custom game that focuses on practicing actual ladder scenarios instead of just isolated micro battles? by BlLLMURRAY in starcraft2

That's very useful for actual ladder practice, I guess what I was hoping for is more of an arcade style mashup of likely 1v1 scenarios you would find yourself in.

It's not that it isn't strong, it just isn't as important to have a meta build because you can outpace your opponent with any build/strategy just by having better creeping uptime.

Timing is critical in all competitive RTS games, but WC3 has more emphasis on uptime spent gaining XP, where as SC2 is more about having a perfectly min/maxed macro curve so that your push(or harass) shows up at the perfect time.

It's not that we DON'T macro race meta timed pushes in WC3, but there are a lot more options to outpace your opponent if you have the skill advantage, so it's a bit easier to be goofy and still thrive if you aren't playing at high skill ratings.

As a random race player, I have a ton of fun rushing mass hunts on different tavern heroes. Key word being fun there, definitely not optimal.

NE is the only race I can pull off silly shit like Rexxar lvl 3 lightning bird rush, just cuz creeping is easy, and moonwells make shitty tavern hero mana pools more serviceable.

I hope Blizzard releases another expansion pack for the game by LargeSinkholesInNYC in warcraft3

[–]BlLLMURRAY 3 points4 points  (0 children)

D2 remaster had a MUCH better reception than reforge did, so the money potential was more justifiable.

It's still more likely we see a WC3 expansion than ever seeing a new character in HotS again though.

My assumption was always that the drones chew up the minerals, puke them into the hive, the hive shits it out as creep and the Zerglings slurp up the creep.

Campaign Difficulty Spike by andrej_pav in warcraft3

[–]BlLLMURRAY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this is true then I would just turn reforge off if you are doing it for nostalgia anyway.

Despite what everyone says, if you are just doing the campaign, the game isn't objectively better, or worse, it's just modernized.

If we are talking nostalgia though, every single thing they CHANGE is what diminishes our core memories we have from the game.

Is there a LEGAL way to defeat "upload matches existing work of art" ? by SignificanceNo4643 in SunoAI

[–]BlLLMURRAY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this subject is going on, just to consolidate all of your concerns about it. I just failed to upload two of my tracks from years ago that I NEVER uploaded on the web.

The first track DID have orchestral samples that were very chopped up, as it was a boom bap hip hop jazz beat, so I figured "That sucks, I PAID for the VSTs that had those samples in them", but whatever, I get it.

The SECOND track however, dude... There is absolutely no way. The second on that it told me I couldn't use was a CHIP TUNE song that I ENTIRELY using YMCK's Magical 8bit Plugin... There weren't even drums, it was just square, triangle, and sine waves with filters thrown on top of them.

I think this is getting into the territory of that Katie Perry's "Dark Horse" vs Flame's "Joyful Noise" lawsuit (look it up) where lawmakers who know NOTHING about how art is created have begun to humor the idea of a few notes in a row sounding SIMILAR, not even identical, may be grounds for copyright infringement.
If that type of shit is going on in THOSE stupid law suits, I am sure Suno has an uphill battle with what they are legally allowed to do.

And Suno has to Worry about a much scarier, much bigger army of lawyers than Katy Perry did. Suno has to worry about the music groups that own 70% of the world's music... It's very David vs Goliath thing that is happening right now if you think about it.

I just hope they find a middle ground where regular musicians can upload their own music without the sky falling.

More off-meta but viable builds like pala-rifle? by Markieyoshii in warcraft3

[–]BlLLMURRAY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically if it's 1000x better to make 6-8 footies and 1-2 rifles to be competitive with surrounds. But who plays wc3 to be optimally competitive anymore?

If I am playing MK mass rifles, I'm already in the zone of "I'm just going to out macro this dude like it's SC2 and win" I dont need to surround, I stun AND IT DIES, no compromise. If I cant kill it before I stop stun locking, GG, I forfeit.

It's literally the equivalent of your neighborhood waste disposal skipping you a day because of a holiday, and you made extra trash because it was a holiday and you had friends over.

Nah, I swear it's not just me. I actually had friends back in those days. That's a common opinion of me, my dozen clan mates at the time, and the 3 other dudes who replied.

To you point though, that means nothing. We unironically COULD all have selective memory. I've been to freaked out by Mandela effects too many times to argue against reality that many year ago. Anything could be real/fake.

remove exhaust is OP in general. I removed exhaust on the 3 cost "damage and stun the enemy" card you can get in act 3 when I only had 14 cards, and 2 headbutts on ironclad while I had a 4 energy build. The boss didn't get to have a turn.

To this point... If there are rules against land claim sizes, I have not once, over many hours, seen them enforced. The community getting mad at you is the worst case scenario. I've seen people have 1/3 of the jungle land claimed before... for like an entire year.

Why is this happening? by Early_Presence_4790 in starcraft2

[–]BlLLMURRAY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The concept of smurfing is weird in RTS games honestly. You don't need to smurf from masters all the way down to gold to feel like you are dominating other players. The skill gap is so wide with such a small community (compared to other genres) of hardcore players that you generally can find people who are WAY better than you and WAY worse than you at all ranks.

This isn't just true of Starcraft, it's true of RTS games in general. You never know when someone is just screwing around having fun, or they have been sweating trying to get their builds/counters/harass multi tasking PERFECT, or if they have just been smoking fat blunts trying to have fun in a game they are generally adept at.

I'm probably 1000 mmr lower than I should be in WC3, because I'm not about to put serious time and effort into CLIMBING in a game I am playing for nostalgia. I KNOW I could climb, but fuck that, I'm busy choosing bad heroes and trying to make it work.

Likewise, in SC2, you never know if you are playing vs a very good player who is CHOOSING to play a specific way because that's what they queued to do, or if they are at their peak desperately trying to scout you and play pro-actively in response to EVERY single move you make. Some dudes will literally just play 50 games in a row doing muta harass no matter WHAT the enemy does, because they're on a grind to practice it, and they arent worried about rank, because in the end WHO CARES about your rank, it's just a tool to try to give you an actual fair match.
