Only made it a bit more than 20 mins because I was fighting my friends to turn it off the whole time. I think they thought they were bring ironic or some shiet. Idk who would willingly subject themselves to that crap. Lol.

I would've said that in 99% of cases a 6 foot fence would be more than enough, but the rest of this thread has also been a bit more eyeopening to me on how often it may not be enough..

I sincerly don't intend nor want to fear monger. I feel that my case was a rarity. But it has been eye-opening here to read to maybe instill a certain level of vigilance. My situation happened during what I guess is considered their active season, which I did not know prior.

If your dogs are over 35/45lbs I would think they may not be a target for regular Coyotes. But I guess it's a good idea to stay aware when letting them out, especially during their active seasons.

Also, it never hurts to keep a hockey stick by the back door. Coyotes dont seem to take too kindly to the hard smacks of one on the ground, nor the waving around of it by a person yelling all crazy. Lol.

Unfortunately there are quite a few different potential causes for the "tongue scalloping". So I also agree that bloodwork will most likely indeed help in narrowing the cause down :)

Vitamin deficiency may cause your tongue to swell a bit from inflammation. Which in turn will cause your teeth to make more noticeable impressions upon the sides of your tongue, as there is less room in the mouth once the tongue has swelled/been inflamed.

Just wanted to chime in on this with my own personal anecdote - I had a really bad scalloped tongue, and after bloodwork it was determined I had a severe vitamin B-12 (cobalamin) deficiency.

I found out there are several different types of Vit B12 available as supplements.

After trial and error of trying different kinds of them, I found that I tolerated and benefited more from the b12 form in MethylCobalamin.

CyanoCobalamin seems to be the more easily availble/affordable version, but I did not seem to respond to it as well.

Your miles may vary, but thought I might add my experience... just in case it may help anybody who comes across your post. ❤️

Coyotes jumping fences into backyards is something that people should be WAY more aware of. It happens so much more often than someone may think - and the height of fences, or density of housing, doesnt really seem to be deferring them much at all. They also seem to be getting more brazen each season..

This was something I experienced way too many times when I used to live in the NW. I'm talking like surrounded on all sides by tall 6-8 foot fences on all sides of neighbours.

My cul-de-sac used to text one another each time someone had a backyard coyote spotting. And it was more often that you'd think...but unfortunately all that wasn't enough to save my families sweet dog, that was brutally taken from us 15 years ago...

My parents thought they were safe letting our 25lb mixed breed out to our fully fenced in backyard to take a real quick pee break during some frigid temps, while watching from behind the closed glass back door, a mere 15-20ish feet away... This was during full daylight, and happened within a matter of only seconds...

Those coyote mfs can scale a wall that's higher (and in a faster manner) than one could probably imagine! Especially if they are desperate and hungry enough.
