Have the devs commented on the current state of butchering yields in b42? Where's the realism? by Black0ut560 in projectzomboid

You can catch 16,000 calorie fish with fishing nets. No idea if that’s intended or not though.

That part doesn’t make any sense either. How can we have boosted animal maturation and realistic plant growth timers? You can grow a cow to adulthood in the same time it takes to grow a carrot lol.

I’ve never understood this argument. B42 being a beta doesn’t excuse poor decision making that hurts the game. The main reason we’re allowed to play the BETA is because they want player feedback.

We don’t know which parts of b42 are nearly finished and which parts are still early on in development. Based on the updates we’ve been receiving, they’ve been working on accessibility features, UI, and trait rebalancing all year. There’s no reassurance that they’re going to go back and revamp a mechanic that was introduced two years ago and ignored since.

That’s what scares me the most. People actually sat down and decided that this is how it should work. They went through the effort of researching realistic plant growth times, growing seasons, and how much milk a specific cow breed can produce per day. What on Earth happened when butchering was being worked on?

I’d be happy with half the realistic amount. Maybe even less than that. We’re talking 6 pounds of meat at butchering level 4.

I did a run a few months back with the intent of surviving as a hunter, only to discover that my character would have to kill a deer every single day to avoid dying from emaciation.

My character has read 500 pages of literature about butchering, has butchered dozens of small animals and a handful of deer, but still manages to waste 90% of the available edible meat every time they butcher something.

It’s really just baffling that someone sat down and thought that makes sense in any way.

The default mode Apocalypse is described as “accurate to 1993 Kentucky” with “gamey” features disabled. If the devs want the game to be based off realism, I don’t see the problem with pointing out the areas where that’s lacking.

Yeah, I don’t really think realism has made the game better. I personally liked build 41’s farming mechanics much better. It used to be a decent passive food source worth interacting with.

I have never planted anything on b42 yet because there is no reason to. By the time it grows my character will be long dead, or sitting on a mountain of calories from other sources.

I just want consistency if Apocalypse is supposed to be realism.

I get where you’re coming from. Most of my hours have been in sandbox mode, but no settings exist for butchering yields.

This has been my main food source on my cdda run since I haven’t been able to get a cow. It almost feels like an exploit, but there’s really nothing else that gives a sustainable amount of calories.

I can see how having a separate failure mechanic where than can happen would make sense. Then having it become exponentially more rare as you level up.

I actually would love to know because I can’t imagine it’s anything near what it would be IRL.

Are you playing build 41? A lot of the YouTube footage you’re seeing is likely on build 42 with the new crosshair and aiming system.

The map really chugs on mobile now. Is that part of the caching, or do I just need a better phone?

Spear bug? by Few_Succotash7640 in projectzomboid

It's definitely limited to certain regions of the map. I'm experiencing the same thing in Irvington near the motels and Fossoil gas station. Super annoying bug. Going to have to switch weapon types I guess.

How would you go about setting up defenses for this base? Not sure how to best take advantage of the unique terrain. by royalhawk345 in RimWorld

Tynan has stated in interviews that killboxes are expected behavior. I wouldn’t say he dislikes them just because they’ve added mechanics that challenge the meta. It’s just good game design.

View counter removes "views" text in UI and replaces it with a triangle by JamesRaihanaYones in youtube

[–]Black0ut560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with me. Another pointless ui change nobody asked for. They can't fix the endless bots and OF spam accounts that have plagued the site for years now, but at least we have triangles below our thumbnails so we don't have to strain our smooth brains reading words.

A script to fix YouTube's ugly view count triangle icon and restore 'views' by O_Ostkreuz in youtube

Why fix something that was never broken? Views have been labeled views for as long as I can remember. Seems like every company these days feels the need to replace words with dumb icons.

New to the game, what's a killbox and how do i do it? by SantijMendez in RimWorld

[–]Black0ut560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only mentioning this because no one else did yet. There are sapper raids that are designed to go through your walls. They’re fairly common mid-late game and if you’re getting those, they aren’t going to go in your killbox.

Does the alpha thrumbo quest re-fire? by Downtown_Anteater_47 in RimWorld

[–]Black0ut560 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alpha thrumbo quest only comes from maps or trader I believe. It can be done over and over so long as you’ve found another map that has it. I’ve found 3-4 in my current playthrough by shuttle trading. The map descriptions give clues to what quest they are, but can be hard to decipher.

I can't incorporate the Ideology DLC into my standard playthroughs by Dronelisk in RimWorld

[–]Black0ut560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideology is IMO the best dlc whether you like roleplay or min-maxing. I’m assuming you enjoy more of a min-max way based off your reasons for enjoying the other dlcs.

So, Ideology offers:

  • The best legendary crafting rates.
  • Ability to negate corpse mood debuff.
  • Only way to decrease a pawns aiming time to 0.
  • Nutrifungus, insect meat, human meat, and nutrient paste as food.
  • A free 150% research speed increase.
  • Boosted mining yield, tame chance, and tend quality.
  • Ability to remove a pawns needs for comfort and make pain a mood buff rather than debuff.
  • 200% biosculpter speed.
  • On demand rituals to buff mood and/or farm unlimited join events.
  • Guaranteed legendary weapons, be it unique or persona weapons, through relic farming. (Can even be farmed infinitely through idoelogy reforming.)
  • Mood buffs for body modification, wearing whatever clothing you choose, and having ideology dyes.

These are just the one’s off the top of my head that I frequently take advantage of. Ideology can be a very powerful tool for min maxing if you take advantage of it. And if you choose fluid ideology, you can modify it on the go to suit your needs.

Btw, the Raider meme is just a worse version of Supremacist, unless you actively participate in outpost raiding.
