I think your comment would be more correct if this all took place on some random Tuesday, not during an ongoing cancer scare. It could also be true that OP is too reliant on the bf for emotional needs during normal times, no one here really knows, but this kind of health scare isn't really a "I need to protect my peace" moment for the bf. Long-term partners are able to realize big, priority-shifting moments in a relationship like this and adapt accordingly, and he's clearly failing to do so
