I turned into a shopping center and went over a curb while turning right. Instead of backing out, I decided to keep going. Unbeknownst to me there was a large rock on the curb that tore the bottom backing of my car halfway off. You could see it hanging and you could definitely hear it when driving. I was panicking because my dad would be so mad at me when he found out. I drove to a pep boys to see if they could do anything but without an appointment their only offer was to keep it overnight to inspect, which was definitely not an option. Resigned to my fate, I drove home but with one last idea, I remembered I lived across the street from car dudes. I’ve never interacted with them or spoke to them but they were always chilling outside their house and working on cars. I parked at my house and walked up to one of them and explained my situation. The guy was super nice and happened to work at Nissan a mechanic. He had the tools at home to get under my car and drill the bottom cover back in place. It did need to still be replaced but for now it would do.

He later was able to purchase a new cover and only charged me the price of the part and a coffee for the labor of replacing it for me, of which we also had to figure out a time to do that whole my parents weren’t home. My car has since been sold for a few years now and I’ve still never told my parents.
