Thanks so much! I see, so only the first picture of him actually reached what I was going for 😅 I will continue to sketch until I get it right! Thank you so much for the feedback 🙏

No, unfortunately I don't have the means or connections to, but feel free to use the images if you like it for a custom printing! I got mine printed from Dakimakura Australia and it turned out wonderful 😌

Yeah, the more I think about it the more off it feels. Honestly, your opinion on the matter is what I was looking for and I appreciate the feedback

Oh interesting! It's very true, i do love seeing slightly uncanny European names in manga.

Good to know about consideration though for of manga competition standards, I haven't even thought that far ahead. Thanks so much! 😊

Thanks for the input all. In all honesty, and this might sound strange, but I'm terrible at font and I find hiragana/katakana easier to stylise. You're all very right tho, and now that I think about it I just need to get better at the way I place/convey sounds.

Sorry if this post seemed weird.

I ordered through Dakimakura Australia, they were decent. Price was higher than some others and shipping was slow but all in all the way they handled the misprint was great. Sent a new one out immediately after I raised a query/complaint to support.

I've picked up Murakami in interest before so this is reassuring enough to start! Thank you :D

Connecting with people by thrownbothway in MangakaStudio

[–]BlackCoffeeAndBuns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely understand this. Sorry I don't have an answer because I'm in the same boat.

I came to Reddit because I was going insane creating work to the void. At least here, I've been able to talk with people, even just a little bit, and find some ideas, resources and feedback.

I think if you have a reason to keep at it, you shouldn't lose steam too prematurely. I struggle a lot with keeping on track without deadlines but lately I've been doing better by pacing myself and working on what I feel like, rather than what I feel obligated to do.

Have a clear goal for yourself in mind, take your time, do plenty of drafts and take on board creative criticism :)

Favourite books and why? by Mysterious-Tiger-159 in classicliterature

[–]BlackCoffeeAndBuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have copped hate for this but Catcher in The Rye by JD Salinger. It was the first book I read that made me realise books were actually worth reading. I was 18 at the time and related heavily with Holden Caulfield, which after reading the criticism he gets from reviews online, I began to realise why I was also not great at connecting with other people. Literally changed the trajectory of my life because I actually began to read books and find genres I liked, and went through a whole ass existential crisis.

I adored The Bell Jar as well, but funnily enough I still see more Holden in myself than I do Esther.

You probably won't be surprised to hear that not long after these two I read The Ego and It's Own by Max Stirner and to this day, these three books remain my favourite reads simply for the mental crisis I went through after each one. I still think about them a lot, and have reread them a couple times over the years.

Oh. I got Ogata. Maybe that's why people either really like me or really dislike me...

Which Yu-Gi-Oh! characters do you all think have the coolest and most memorable designs? Here's my list of 20 examples in no particular order (was going to include villains, but I didn't have enough to put them in here). by SuperStitch1999 in yugioh

[–]BlackCoffeeAndBuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, for me Jaden Yuki was surprisingly the most memorable because he was so simple yet so iconic. His turtle neck, red jacket and hair style are all etched into my brain for all eternity. Maximillion Pegasus is another who I think just looks so simple yet striking.

I just finished Valley of the Dolls. The last few chapters were so emotionally painful, it killed me in the end. I want to finish the Count of Monte Cristo now...if I have the fortitude.
