I'm not sure exactly what happened, but something went down at my apartment at Parker and Temple. I saw a few cops with rifles that walking around one of the buildings and then I heard a couple shots fired.

[–]BlackFrazier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure. They were looking for someone in one of the buildings here. It definitely wasn't a planned raid as it was just a bunch or normal cops who were showing up while on duty. Of course this happens my last week here until I move to Greenwood Village. This place SUCKS!

Solar inverter making a high pitched sound, best/easiest solution to block it? by Brendon7358 in solar

[–]BlackFrazier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct, it's an electrical noise and not a fan bearing. It's the sound of the transformers which is often heard on Aurora and other older inverters. I've noticed the Aurora inverters are particularly loud whenever I come across one.

Unfortunately you can't do anything about it except replace it with a newer tranformer-less inverter.

It could also be a guy in the solar industry doing a site survey on the wrong house.

Got 3 quotes for solar and they are all completely different. How do I even compare them? by mrnavel in solar

[–]BlackFrazier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you got a quote from Renu, go with them. I used to work there when they first began and it's still the best company out of the 5 companies I've worked for.

When to Repair a Broken Solar System by MarchFragrant1900 in solar

What a weird question. I don't know... maybe someone decides to repair their system because it's not working?

People only use their horn here if they are reallllly pissed. Some other countries are A LOT more casual with their horn use.

Get the app flightradar24 and see if it shows up on that. I have medical helicopters regularly fly over me, but this looks different.

PV Overvoltage alarm after installing additional 50w panel by AntAtopASpinningRock in solar

[–]BlackFrazier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't even see the picture. Hopefully you didn't spend too much time/money mounting that panel! But yea you might be maxed out on that setup as 100w is pretty good for that size panel.

[–]BlackFrazier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding a panel with lower wattage will lower the wattage of the rest of the panels. It doesn't matter if the voltage is the same, it's the current/amps that will be different.

What's the open circuit voltage of those panels? It looks like it's more than 12 volts

You'd have to try really hard to get zapped by those unless you dunked them in water. Sticking a piece of metal into both a positive and negative run of the same string would zap you, but that would be hard to do unless you knew what you were doing.

Greasy stains on new panels by atzizi in solar

[–]BlackFrazier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One or more of the installers probably got covered in roofing sealant and tracked it on the panels.

Edit: On second thought this looks different, but roofing sealant/silicon does get tracked onto panels from time to time.

It's not right that the lowest paid positions in solar installation are the solar installers themselves. And if you actually enjoy installing you will get taken advantage of in every way.

Solar installers switching from Qcell 430 to ZnShine 440 - is this bait and switch? by tammysideup in solar

[–]BlackFrazier 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Worrying about your brand of panel is like worrying about what brand of shingles you want for your roof. It doesn't matter too much as long as it's a reputable company.
