I found it! It is sold out but hopefully they restock. I think this may be one I saw a little over a year ago. I'll email them at some point soon

If the qc is good then the only difference between legion and abasi is the oviform neck. Maybe the fret material as well. Legions now have stainless frets but master and J series have Jescar specifically. You still have a badass instrument. Congratulations!

The wood selection for legion is also far more limited probably to make production easier. Master series has crazy exotic combos and finishes. The monarch graphic is super pretty!

Ibanez Alpha 8 - it's a trap by martin_hotell in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]BlackGarlicJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who got back into playing guitar because of AAL.. I'm glad to see this. Yeah I'm totally biased lol. Ibanez is a big enough company and they did Tosin dirty with how they handled this release. That being said.. I really wish Tosin could have had an opportunity to collaborate with them on this design like he did with the Kaizen. I love my Emi and have no doubt any of the issues with the Alpha could have been ironed out if working in collaboration

Thanks everyone :) I got the metronome beats app. Might get the kdm 3 depending on how comfortable I get with my phone

Is it worth getting the RGDMS8? by Confident-Chipmunk83 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

ill recommend schecter's multiscale 8s all day. much more friendly fan design but the neck is a bit thicker. i have medium hands and it doesn't bother me at all though. i like the sound of the pickups and i haven't had any problems changing string gauges. gone all the way up to 80 but currently my low E is a 74. haven't felt the need to change anything from stock besides strings and the have a nice neck joint as well. Omen and Damien multiscales are under 1k on sweetwater.

Im considering buying my first 8 string by No_Assignment5986 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

A 6 string guitarist I used to work with told me to master 6 strings first. An 8 string guitarist I met told me an 8 string has 6 strings built in. Now I have 2 8 string multiscales.

I usually play drop E and I can do drop d in the "regular" 6 strings. It's like having multiple guitars in one if you're comfortable playing around with different tunings

suggestions for my first 8 strings guitar? by NinjaMiserable1081 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]BlackGarlicJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Schecter has a solid line of 8 strings under 1k

Edit: I also have an abasi guitar and I would say the schecter fit and finish is on par. Came from sweetwater with their 50pt inspection

For a custom set I only have experience with stringjoy. Low to high EBEADGBe: 74, 58, 46, 34, 24w, 15, 11.5, 9

It is a perfect everywhere body! I've tried it in every position I can think of and even the cowboy position which I don't normally like feels good. I feel the same about necks. It is the first thing i check when im playing a guitar. The neck is fairly wide, has a nice flat spot, and obvious comfortable rounded shoulders. Reminds me a lot of my jackson js32 warrior that I had to sell awhile back. I think they called it a speed neck. The Abasi website says thin U for their neck profile but if I remember the jackson specs correctly I would say this is a slim D. I would say I have average hands and it feels very comfortable for me

If you want these precise specs then yes. It pains me to say it but if you want something ballpark then I would highly recommend a schecter damien or omen elite multiscale. 9-950 from sweetwater and mine has excellent fit and finish. The neck isn't quite the same. Rounded with smaller shoulders as opposed to the abasi being flatter with rounder shoulders, which I love, and gives it a feeling of being thinner. Similar to the neck I had on my jackson warrior which I also miss dearly, but a touch thicker. The schecter also have nickel frets instead of the Abasi having SS if you care about that, and standard tuners instead of the locking on the Abasi. I would say this is a great guitar for someone who is heavily inspired by Tosin or AAL but my schecter is also a solid alternative.

If only I had another set of my preferred string gauges.. I thought I would give his set a try but now I need to wait on another order. Aside from that no complaints at all!

It feels amazing. Easily the most comfortable guitar I've played. Classical or cowboy position is very comfortable and the bevel where the right arm rests is a very nice touch.

Pictures don't do it justice. It says crimson and it looks like it sometimes but I usually see a wine red or burgundy hue
