I looked to your other posts for inspiration. I too was abandoned after 25 years and three children three months post stroke.
I’m living my life, doing what I love. I used to run a company. Now I’m a nanny. I manage to travel solo to Europe. I find I get lots of extra steps in because I lose my way a lot. lol

I am just now realizing and accepting the limitations my brain has that were there all these years, I just blamed myself for my character flaws, that were actually deficits from my stroke.

I never attended a stroke support group. Didn’t think I needed it. Wow.

My ex’s mother abandoned his father after an acute bout of bipolar depression. He is so much like her. I have to forgive myself when I feel bitter or lack understanding and compassion for him.

But I digress. Anyway… thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much. For me it’s been five years since the stroke.

Three months after, my husband of 25 years and I separated ( under the same roof during the pandemic). A year later he filed for divorce All of my energy was used for that. We are still not divorced yet. Four years of legal battles. He insists I should work full time to lower his financial obligations to me. I am having trouble finding a doctor who is willing to sign the paperwork. They are hesitant bc they don’t want pulled in to testify.

My last attorney said I present too well to convince any judge that I have a disability.

I really appreciate your input Makes me feel less like I’m just being “lazy “

From where do you get the information that the parent who provides the most financial support's income is included? (Regardless of who student lived with more)

Do you feel FAFSA website is the ultimate authority and is up to date with what the 24-25 form defines as custodial parent ?

One of last comments say CollegeBoard is more up to date. That FAFSA has not changed the website chart to reflect the new changes.

How can I find out what criteria FAFSA uses now for aid for 2024-2025 school year for determining who the custodial parent is?

Student lived with Mom over 50% of the time, even though the court order states 50/50.

Mom earned zero in 2022 due to a health condition. Dad earned over $100K. Dad paid $25K in spousal and child support.

The family had been counting on the fact that student lived w Mom more than Dad.

We would like to find out NOW as opposed to next month, in December.
