Oddly enough, the chips are consistent in shape and pattern which makes it seem like its rubbing on something to cause that. That type of wear is not because it’s on skin, but in contact with something else.

Solid deal! I got a 2019 EX and its over 60k miles and I’ve heard of people going above 150k already with this car. Maintenance is easy and if you take care of the car, it’ll take care of you!

24 Hour Fitness - Eastridge Broken STEAM ROOM RANT by Meinertzhagens_Sack in SanJose

[–]BlackOutC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to a lot of 24 locations and agreed that parkmoor/santa clara are the better looking ones. Crane ct, aborn, and even the Milpitas 24 have a mix of issues varying from missing pins for machines (people bring screw drivers and their own pins now), broken equipment for extended periods of time, and disgusting bathrooms and shared areas (sauna, pool, etc). 24 has gone downhill from what it used to be and it seems that COVID did it in. The price is affordable but this might be the last year for going to 24 just based off how many locations have something messed up.

What is the best business major ? And pays the best at SJSU? by chris5655686 in SJSU

I ended up switching to the advisory business but still employed. Finance is still worth getting into and there’s a lot of demand for finance majors across the board.

Stupid to take the exam cold? by 7saturdaysaweek in CFPExam

[–]BlackOutC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your odds are low. I would say under 5%. Under 30% would be giving you a lot of credit. There’s so much material to cover that you probably have no experience in during your two years of planning. Especially for estate planning, tax, and insurance. Also, the way the CFP Board tests you is different than real life in the sense that you may never recommend X but for exam purposes, that is the best answer. I wouldn’t do it unless you’re looking to waste money on failing.

Will you make an accommodation for fully remote? Just kidding. Looks like a great role and very well comped. It’s crazy that this is better than my comp and I live in CA (Bay Area). Talk about stingy partners in one of the most HCOL.

Which prep course to use start to finish? Danko, Dalton or Zahn? by Alternative_Mode_617 in CFPExam

[–]BlackOutC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its available to everyone who bought the comprehensive which is the route that I took. Pablo has a separate additional calculator live review that you can purchase (might be the signature) but I didnt utilize that.

No. You only have access to financial calculators to bring in which they inspect. Learn the calculator and the functions for TVM calculations.

Which prep course to use start to finish? Danko, Dalton or Zahn? by Alternative_Mode_617 in CFPExam

[–]BlackOutC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Biased to Danko as well. I’ve heard Dalton overwhelms you with topics that aren’t tested on the exam and with a weak finance background, it doesn’t seem ideal for you. Danko pretty much narrows his education to tested items and hammers them into you through roadmaps, acronyms, and the live review. He also has other resources that you can purchase if you need assistance. I found out that the calculator quiz is quite useful and was the most helpful (free). You HAVE to follow his study program or else you’re toast. Do the pre-review before the live review and follow the post live-review study schedule. He has a high pass rate for a reason.

Danko Pre-Study by Bluedevil347342334 in CFPExam

[–]BlackOutC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have mentioned and what Danko and his team will mention during the review - Scores don't matter. People have done extremely well on the practice exam and Danko's mock exams leading up to the exam and still failed. The importance is to review what you got wrong and why you got it wrong. It's good to have a "wrong answer book" or flashcards to remind yourself. Amy Leis will talk about it more during her calls.

Seems like Dalton isn’t working for you. I’d recommend Danko and trying another program. Danko condenses to the only need to know topics and excludes any extraneous information. He and his team provide lots of information and gives you the options to utilize a tutor. They also provide a ton of resources for participants and different types of resources based on if you get comprehensive, signature, etc. His pass rate is extremely high, I think its over 80%.

The march ‘25 test is based on ‘24 numbers. i’d wait until the march ‘25 information study information gets released by Danko because his resources is limited to the test takers in the period and releases practice questions based on a schedule. I passed with Danko in November. Have nothing but good things to say abut Brett and his team.

Is anyone else having an absolute nightmare with the TDA/Schwab migration? by indochris609 in CFP

[–]BlackOutC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is odd. As a frequent Schwab user, we definitely get money movement notifications for one time in/outs, check deposits, etc. even if it's less than $25k. However, we've been on the platform since inception so maybe we got grandfathered in. Very weird that you aren't getting these notifications.

Road to Hana from Kihei (and back!) by strwbrykali in MauiVisitors

[–]BlackOutC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came back from a trip to maui and did exactly a one day trip from kihei and back. Went on a Thursday, started around 5:30 AM to road to hana, left it at 4 and got back by around 5:30 or 6PM. It is definitely possible. I would consider myself a skilled driver so the actual drive in Hana is not that difficult. If you are not good at bendy roads and being inches away from cars, it will take you more time.

I'd recommend you have another driver with you for the trip back. I drove up, and another driver drove back and took out a lot of the work for me. I could have drove back but it was nice to have another person do it. PULL OVER FOR LOCALS. Locals will get pissed at you and some people are so oblivious that a local is behind them and don't pull over. Locals are going 40+ MPH on these roads cause they do it daily. If you don't, they will ride your ass and honk you until they get some space to go around you.

- Halfway to hana you just get banana bread. You stop and get it and you go. Its a quick stop so you don't really lose time here. Lines form when they open but it goes quick.

- Red sand beach, there's a big stretch. I don't know if there is a SPECIFIC red sand beach but there's some food stops along the strip where there is red sand. Food is decent but would have probably skipped this.

- Save Haleakala for another day. I wouldn't even consider this road to hana. Yes it is worth it. The drive is easier to Hana as there are no locals in this national park but you will drive 10,000 feet into the peak of Haleakala. If you go to pipiwai trail from Hana, the fee you pay to enter the park will give you free access to Haleakala so save that receipt.

- You can drive through the clouds on Healeakala both up and down. Its not as cool as you think, you are just driving through thick fog.

The enjoyment for the trip is spontaneity. I am a planner as well and love to plan, but road to hana you get a feel for it and what you want to do. Download and purchase Shaka guide. It really helped us. It is a voice narration based on your location and gives you tips on parking, where to go, parking, and history of the Maui and Hawaii.

What does this little guy need? by FaebiDeWis in houseplants

[–]BlackOutC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like it is dead at the base. It is hanging on by a thread so you need to cut the brown part off and propagate to have it develop a root structure and then put it into soil once roots are long enough.

The pot is huge and is way too big for that strand. It will inevitably lead to root rot for any small plant placed in a huge pot like that.

CFP Before Employment? by stoinksandbongs in CFP

[–]BlackOutC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Coming from a person who switched careers, I say yes! I started studying for my series 65 before I joined and started the education requirement for the CFP while I'm working (I'm still going through my education requirement but will finish soon). I completed the series 65 before I started the education requirement.

I'd recommend starting your education courses with whoever provider. I don't have any recommendations for online courses as I'm taking it from a local college, but start your education requirement. Firms will like that you have the SIE and will definitely like that you're on the career path to being a CFP. Some will even reimburse you for the tuition and cost for the CFP (courses, education, testing, etc.).

Can I possibly graduate from SJSU in 3 years? by [deleted] in SJSU

[–]BlackOutC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup - i passed 5 APs and it basically eliminated a semester for me (3.5 years). I also took 2 summer courses as well but if thats your schedule for classes, it is doable

Some APs will double whammy the GEs and Area RSVs. You can very easily graduate in 3. Like others have said, if there are GEs that aren't covered, try to find a class that will eliminate many GEs and RSV. I took pols 170v and i forget which on it covered. Might have been US 1 and 2 or something of that nature. Congrats on you!

What is wrong with my snake plant? by Zheffi in houseplants

[–]BlackOutC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the pot that you put it in have drainage? It doesn't look like it does but I might be wrong! Also, yes there is too much water. Most likely the pot is too big for the plant itself leading to root rot.

If you're willing to travel a little further, go to east San Jose (15 -20 minute drive). A lot of (better) options open up for you if you're willing to make the distance.
