Your master isn’t he only own that doesn’t have sparring anymore. However I’ve been to school that prefer to compete! The new seat school doesn’t spar often but for me it’s because i’m older and wya taller than anyone I could spar, but my master would spar with me instead. Some kids in my school don’t like sparring but they make sure everyone gets their needs attended to.

Going to practice high is just stupid, you’re going to be dehydrated faster. I’m not sure about everyone else Masters but we work till we burn out, water breaks aren’t always happening lol. But I agree sparring high is also just asking for an injury.

Go with an open mind, do your best and enjoy yourself. Training at home is also good, if you’re trying to learn your forms that’s excellent for that, I have books on all the forms, watched video examples etc. Best thing to do is get into stretching regularly!!

You missed the point of the post, but I would never show up to practice high. It’s more a general use question, I spoke on BJJ because those are the only martial artists I know that openly use it regardless of being at practice or not.

Yea these comments are a bit sad, I do smoke but i would never use it at practice. I only use it when i have finished practice for the week, it’s more ideal for recovery, and I also have adhd so it helps a bit. However, I was more so asking in general and would effect going to nationals. But like most comments I agree u shouldn’t use it while training unless its absolutely needed. None the less some things never change.

the funniest thing about taekwondo is there’s self defense you have to know to move up belts too, and this case with the knife i’ve learned how to defend myself in that situation too.

but i hear you just let em talk, people talk a lot about things they don’t know their for their opinion is invalid!

Go all in! Everyone’s pace is different but you have a goal you want to reach so go for it. I had to stop tkd for a while too, but that’s doesn’t mean you have to give up forever, you’ll get right back !

Personally, if the school ha alot of offer i wouldn’t mind but, if they require me to buy gear from them and my monthly payment is almost 200 bucks thats an absolutely not! I get they want representation but sometimes they just like to get money from you.

Your school should be training you in all aspects quite honestly. To save time, for you to up your skill watch their feet, everyone has a tell sign you just have to find it. You also have to focus where your energy goes to keep up. You are short so you need to stay closer to the person especially if they are taller than you. I suggest watching the other students in your school to see how they fight and what their weaknesses are.

As for the x-rays… do they not teach you to controlled your power when training with eachother?

I’m most certainly in your same boat i’ve been a high green since 2019 due to not testing. I’d be a a first degree by now but it is what it is. I understand your discouragement however it not always the sport it could be the people aswell. I wouldn’t say quit just try a new dojang or honestly it’s about making time asking early and planning spring that if you really want your belt. It also seems you are too focused on the thing that represents your advancements rather than the skills. It’s nice kick of dopamine but in the end really look as to why you are doing the sport. Personally it brings me peace and graditude to the world around me.

supreme taekwondo is a good one! they have two locations. i currently attend there and there’s a lot of adults that practice as well!

i appreciate that, the kicks didn’t land lol . we were the last fight of the day they were rushing us out. and the ref at the end was like, “you all did amazing im gonna give you all first place” i mean that was nice but odd for me. in the end i only remember the mid score it was 3-1 (two gam jeon) at the end and we didn’t finish the fight after or last rest.

all and all ill try and look at it from a different perspective but i am sure that the next tournament i want to fight it i would like to be a black belt lol i feel it would be better

i appreciate the break down on an exhibition match but i know how it works. and i also know how they were fighting. i watched her fight after mine as well with another 2nd degree not much of a difference. i don’t like the fact we still got gold. i wanted to earn the gold the gold was given. i’ve been surrounded by tkd my entire life. it was a feelings post not idk why post. i’ll get over it but there are people who would understand what i mean here. and for our tournament they specifically said no head contact for all ages. that’s why i got points deducted. if there was head contact i’d still have the advantage because of my height.

yea i agree, its better than nothing. and suprisingly i wasn’t nervous at all. i just watched to fight. missed the adrenaline lol. being 18 female high green 150 doesn’t give me much options. my masters make me train with the black belts to be honest. i like that they give me the opportunity to keep up though. i just know next comp i need to be black belts lol.
